Responsibilities

We are seeking for a high calibre finance professional to join our team as Senior Finance Manager who manages a team of 4 people for day to day operation and reports to CFO of Societe Generale Hong Kong Branch and Societe Generale Asia Limited.  His/ her main responsibilities are as follows:

Financial accounting & controls

  • Oversee the month-end closing to ensure smooth completion. Monitor the action plan from other departments during closing to ensure issues are resolved before end of closing to avoid any financial impact.  
  • Oversee the account certification controls performed by team members to ensure accounting data quality.  Escalate to relative departments if there is any anomaly identified.  
  • Supervise the accounting production processes performed by the team, for example, FX hedging, forecast of regulatory ratios, preparation of accounting entries, etc. 
  • Oversight of offshored teams on its quality, provide constant feedback and follow up to ensure action plan is delivered to improve quality.  
  • Keep continuous improvement mindset, identify any potential control loopholes and implement action plan.

Regulatory reporting & watch

  • Supervise and review regulatory reporting produced by team member to guarantee accuracy of all the reported figures and timely submission.  
  • Act as regulatory watch to analyze all the new regulatory requirements and potential impact, lead a monthly team workshop to discuss all the changes and potential impact.  Being a gate keeper to ensure completeness of new regulatory requirements. 
  • Act as contact point for any queries or information request from regulator.  

Financial steering & ALM

  • Monitor the business performance of the entity and prepare executive summary to branch management on the financial results.  
  • Prepare materials for Asset & Liabilities Management Committee (“ALCO”), of which covers balance sheet/ capital management, structural risk management, regulatory compliance, upcoming regulations around ALM and scarce resources topics, etc.  
  • Ensure structural risks are within limit and propose action plan if the limit / threshold is breached.

Tax

  • In charge of compliance of corporate income tax, responsible for preparation of all relevant tax calculations and liaise with external tax adviser on tax computation and filing.  
  • Possess good understanding of the Group’s Transfer Pricing policies and methodologies, keep up to date and analyze the tax implications in HK. 
  • Handle tax queries from tax authority if any.

Transversal topics

  • New product analysis on the impact for Finance team (e.g. accounting, tax, regulatory reporting, etc).
  • Coordination of Internal and External Audit mission related to Finance department  
  • Act as central point of contact for all Finance projects to represent & contribute for Finance team for HK.  Analyze the impact and arrange the team to fulfil project milestone on behalf of Finance team.  
  • Ensure permanent supervision controls are performed by the team on time and in a proper manner, declare in permanent supervision tool.  
  • Support the CFO for any new initiatives and ideas to improve the deliverables of the Finance team.  

Profile required

  • University graduate in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting qualification
  • At least 8 years of relevant experiences in Finance Department in banking industry of which at least 2 years of experience of managerial experience.
  • Big 4 audit experiences on banks is an advantage.

  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with proficiency in written and spoken English and Cantonese.   
  • Able to analyze any new regulatory requirement related to Finance and relevant impact to the team, present to business line for major changes and drive the team and other stakeholders for the change 
  • Able to work under pressure, effective management of priorities 
  • Ability to drive and push topics forward 
  • Attention to details with financial sense, challenge when there is abnormal evolution or it is unreasonable

Department Description

Finance Service Unit (“DFIN”) coordinates the Finance Line and ensures the Group’s financial production, steering and management via a number of complementary missions:

  • support business lines, service units and general management in terms of financial and strategic steering 
  • ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and obligations 
  • ensure monitoring and steering of P&L and scarce resources performance (capital, liquidity, balance sheet) in keeping within strategic objectives and in compliance with regulatory obligations 
  • maintain financial crisis management plans 
  • ensure management of structural interest rate, foreign exchange and liquidity risks
  • ensure regulatory watch on topics pertaining to scarce resources, accounting and finance.
