Key objectives and primary goal(s)

KH Operations comprises of the following areas –

Banking Operations – Banking, Payments, cards, e-banking, open banking, scanning and reception

Fees and Billing

Securities Operations – Settlements, Corporate Actions, Transfers, Custody and Custodian oversight, Stock Data Management.

Operational Tax – Completion of tax reporting for FATCA/CRS, QI and associated control frameworks

Middle Office – Regulatory Reporting  Mifid 2,

Middle Office – Client Data and Reporting

Operational Projects, End to End Process continual improvements and SMEs for tactical and strategic projects

Key purposes of the role

•            To provide technical SME support for Projects with Operations workstreams or Run activities to release Senior Managers for Project activities (backfill senior manager position) or a combination of the two.

•            To work with existing Business as Usual teams and strategic project teams

•            To ensure that change efforts are consistent with KH’s strategic, operational and tactical business objectives and are compatible with existing functionality, ensuring budgets and timescales are controlled and assisting the business to control prioritisation. 

•            When working on projects the role will focus on all aspects of the Project including, data analysis, system testing, mapping, reporting defects and attending project meetings.

•            The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to provide strong analytical results, challenge existing procedures and controls whilst working with cross-functional teams to implement operational improvements. Previous project experience will be considered a distinct advantage.

Key responsibilities

•            To work with other Operations SME’s as a contact point for the Operations teams on core system changes to meet the needs of Project(s)

•            Analyse current process and propose necessary changes to ensure that the Operations team are working as effectively and efficiently as possible and that workarounds are viable under Project(s)

•            Define future operating process changes as needed

•            Complete system testing for new development and defect fixes and own any business requirements

documentation from preparation to implementation.

•            Undertake any regression testing as appropriate.

•            Provide support for training in new processes

•            Ensure adherence to KH Internal controls standards, systems and procedures that appropriate standards are maintained in all aspects of operational risk and compliance which are endorsed by subsequent audits.

•            Understand and apply internal Risk and Compliance policy, process and procedures.

•            Understand the key processes and procedures within Operations

•            Support and advise the various project teams and BAU teams as necessary in the lead up to, during and post project go-live

•            Assist with the compilation of controls changes

•            To ensure Business as Usual activities are not compromised during periods of heightened change.

•            To manage teams and individuals through change.

•            To support other managers in delivering collectively on all objectives for the department

Profile required

Competencies and Work Experience

•            Knowledge of banking and securities systems and operational practices / products

•            Knowledge of operations including client FX and MM, Bank FX and MM, dealer position management, interbank settlement, associated swift message types, reconciliations, FRN and IRS processing OR

•            Knowledge of securities – settlements, corporate actions, custody and securities end to end trading models for all asset types OR

•            Knowledge of middle office activities – client data/client reporting or regulatory reporting, CASS.

•            Strong analytical skills

•            Considers options available and finds best solutions to meet client needs

•            Works to high standards of accuracy, quality and attention to detail

•            Able to effectively perform different tasks depending on needs

•            Can communicate information and ideas clearly to team and clients

•            Self-directed, the ability to work independently, and highly motivated.

•            Experience of working in a global financial services organisation with BAU teams or similar subject matter expert capacity

•            An analytical, problem solving attitude, good attention to detail with a record of identifying and dealing with client, system or process issues as they arise.

•            Knowledge of the banking and securities markets, their regulation and reporting requirements.

•            For Banking - Knowledge of Routing, STP, banking systems and networks including, but not limited to, SWIFT, BACS and Aqua e2gen.

•            For Securities – custodian network and systems.

•            Strong team working skills, willing to put forward ideas and challenge current processes and procedures

•            The ability to interact with business stakeholders to understand complex requirements.

•            Good communication, both in verbal and written skills, and fluent in English.

•            Able to prepare and produce well-structures written materials

•            Project knowledge

•            Good working knowledge of systems

Education/Professional Qualifications


  • Worked in a similar position in a complex financial services organisation, for at least 3 years
  • At least 5 years industry experience
