Responsibilities

The candidate for this role will primarily be managing the IT Software category of spend and will, on a project by project basis, be required to address other categories dependent on aptitude and capabilities.

Sourcing Management (Responsibility):

  • Strategic Management of IT Software Category related spends by analyzing the spend, business needs and the market, develop a strategic approach (the “Plan”) and Implement the Plan.
  • Responsible for delivering ongoing annual reduction and cost efficiencies of the sourceable spend within the IT Software (Enterprise & Business) related categories. Analyze the category spend and develop and deploy strategies to reduce cost, improve services and align with the group’s goals and objectives.
  • Fully manage agreements for related spend including contract management (tracking term and termination), negotiating commercial and to some extent legal provisions within the agreements.
  • Employ the sourcing process – collect and assess requirements from business partners, evaluate the market (possibly by an RFx process), negotiate business and legal terms favorable to SG, execute agreement etc…
  • Be a steward on behalf of sourcing to the business.  Collaborate with internal partners and key stakeholders on accomplishments, trends, issues, goals and objectives as it relates to category spend and sourcing in general.
  • Enforce sourcing policy and procedure. 

Profile Required

Competencies

  • Minimum 5+ years of related Strategic Sourcing experience
  • 3 – 5 years specifically supporting the IT Software Category (Category Lead preferred)
  • Sole/Single Sourcing experience needed, specifically as it relates to software
  • Experience developing category strategies, and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Must be aware of specific industry, legal, regulatory obligations as it relates to contractual provisions (i.e. new obligations surrounding data privacy, confidentiality, Third Party Risk Management etc…)
  • Strong comprehension of third-party contract structures and terms, as well as, the ability to negotiate and redline/draft terms within a contract. Excellent negotiation skills with absolute capability to lead complex negotiations and deliver the intended outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (including presentation skills).
  • Influential with regards to Internal Stakeholders and External Suppliers
  • Must be a self-starter and able to operate independently in an aggressive environment.
  • Capable of analyzing the commodity of spend for savings opportunities and/or service improvement, develop actionable plans, solicit necessary stakeholder support, execute the plan through sourcing/negotiation (MS Excel proficient; financial modeling)

Technical Skills

  • Basic Office Applications, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint etc…
  • Experience with Procurement/Sourcing related applications

Prior Work Experience

  • Minimum of (5) years’ experience as a complete sourcing professional with category management experience
  • Contract negotiations both commercial terms (dollars, dates, deliverables) with experience negotiating, to some extent legal provisions
  • Contract drafting/redlining
  • Experience sourcing other product/services other than IT Software is helpful (i.e. consulting services, IT products/services, professional services/outsourced services, hardware, market data, broker dealer, exchanges, legal, office products, Real-Estate, etc….)

This role for a Senior Sourcing Specialist requires a skilled, experienced sourcing professional with general knowledge of the Financial Industry with expertise within the IT Software and related spend (particularly with the variety of software licensing models including SaaS type structures – AWS, Azure etc…), as well as IT Professional services, sound knowledge of contractual provisions and structure, excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills.

 A strong candidate will be able to evidence that they have successfully managed and negotiated complex software agreements with suppliers in which they ensured market best practices are adhered to with regards to prolonged license cost and compliance, ongoing maintenance cost and service quality, implementation assurances (acceptance) and overall flexibility (term and termination), as well as, included protective contractual conditions (including, to some degree, legal types of provisions) to mitigate risk. Additionally, the individual is required to have strong communication and interpersonal skills (provide relevant and clear management communication).
