Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

Kleinwort Hambros Wealth Planning offers a comprehensive wealth planning service that complements our investment management expertise, allowing us to provide an integrated and coordinated approach to managing a client’s wealth, whilst maximising the opportunities available. Our Wealth Planning advice is tailored to our clients whether they be UK or International, covering areas such as: retirement planning, investment structuring, financial protection and succession planning, including trust and fiduciary services, and cross border planning. The key objective of the team is to create positive client outcomes by providing comprehensive delivery of the Kleinwort Hambros Bank Ltd (“KH”) wealth planning proposition.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  To provide financial planning advice to ultra-high net worth clients and prospects of Kleinwort Hambros, with focus on those who are entrepreneurs, Resident Non-Domiciled and/or International. Whilst the role is predominately providing advice to clients of the UK bank, the provision of advice may include clients of Channel Islands and Gibraltar

  Develop close working relationships with the Private Bankers (“PBs”) and wider members of the SG group to help deliver international client financial solutions 

  • To assist with the management, development, and promotion of relationships with professional intermediaries and introducers

  To assist, in conjunction with the Head of UK & International Wealth Planning, the development of new wealth planning strategies, products and services.

Summary of responsibilities 

  • Provide high quality, comprehensive financial advice to new and existing clients of KH ensuring ownership of the delivery and execution of associated wealth planning strategies and structures
  • Support the PBs and wider KH team in the acquisition and retention of clients by actively marketing and representing the wealth planning service appropriately in client engagements and external events
  • Ensure all work is carried out in the client’s best interests and in accordance with KH wealth planning procedures including “Know Your Customer”, keeping appropriate written records and the provision of annual client reviews where required
  • To co-ordinate in depth advice with in-house trust, tax advisers and investment management services where appropriate
  • Continuously evaluate the KH wealth planning proposition, suggesting and/or managing enhancements which improve client outcomes and increase client engagement
  • Ensure ongoing continuing professional development which supports personal and business objectives
  • Promoting professional and public awareness of the company and its services in accordance with Group procedures
  • To be a mentor to and develop other staff within the team, sharing knowledge and experience
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the SG Code of Conduct, as well as the policies and procedures relevant to your responsibilities, to ensure that you adhere to a culture that treats clients fairly and focuses on the long-term sustainability of client relationships.

 

Detail of level of responsibility for:

 

  Business Development

  Support the strategy design and implementation with a focus on ultra-high net worth clients who are Entrepreneurs, Resident Non-Domicile or International

  Actively build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships, both individually and as part of a team

  Seek new initiatives and opportunities which improve client outcomes

  Support in the implementation of regulatory changes/projects

  Risk/Compliance

  Apply all regulatory standards including Consumer Duty, Know Your Client, and Suitability.

  Maintain the highest standards of risk and compliance, ensuring all policies are observed across the team.

  Undertake live observations as part of the T&C requirements and ensure SPS/CPD rules are adhered to for self and the UK Wealth Planner team, ensuring technical and regulatory competence is achieved

  Perform all duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the KH Code of Conduct, and the SG Code, as well as the policies and procedures relevant to your responsibilities, to ensure that you adhere to a culture that focuses on the long-term sustainability of client relationships and delivers good outcomes to clients

Profile required

Competencies and qualifications

   Qualifications and experience

   Proven experience in developing relationships and advising ultra-high net worth clients, Resident Non-Domiciled and international clients in a financial planning, or big four accountancy environment

   Either:

o   Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning/Chartered Financial Planner, or equivalent, with an appropriate examination for undertaking the activity of a Pension Transfer Specialist.

OR

o   Qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser, with a minimum Level 4 appropriate qualification to provide regulatory advice on retail investment products.

    STEP Advanced Certificate in UK Tax for International Clients desirable
