Responsibilities

The SDN lead provides design, leadership and guidance of leading-edge SDN technologies and industry best-practices, as well as works with implementation partner/vendor in hands-on building and integration of network and information systems technologies. This is both a very visible role as well as a deeply technical role that requires expertise across many areas of discipline, including SDN Networking and Security , Virtualization, Infrastructure-as-Code, Firewall and ADC Engineering.

Primary Duties:
- Creation and implementation of cloud platform services
- Collect & Understand organization requirements from various stakeholders and propose Solution Architecture
- Compare and present solutions based on leading opensource tools/framework
- Work closely with implementation partners review/validate their deliverables ensuring organization interest
- Lead and collaborate with stakeholders to understand the implications of respective architectures on data architecture and to maximize the value of information across the organization
- Lead teams of engineers to implement “best practices”, as communicated and agreed upon with the end customer using “lead-by-example”
- Onsite or remote development of SDN technologies
- Travel 50-60% as required for consultation and implementation
- Drives in-depth assessment of emerging technologies to validate that the technology and architecture is appropriate for business solution needs and communicates assessment to the rest of the team

Profile required

Technical

- Experience in network automation using tools like VMWare NSX V/T, vRA/vRO
- Experience with Software Defined Network (SDN) or adaptive security platform (like Micro Segmentation)
- Strong experience with ReST APIs, Python and Ansible
- Experience with Cloud Management Platforms (Cloud Center, vRealize, VMWare NSX)

Soft skills

- Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies
- Extensive experience defining and implementing standards and best practices
- Extensive experience with the use of product evaluations and feasibility studies to drive the direction of solutions
- Strong documentation skills in High Level Architecture (Visio, Enterprise Architecture)
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a work environment of multiple and conflicting priorities
