Responsibilities

Department Summary:

The Global Technical Services organization (GTS) provides infrastructure engineering and administration for all SG staff and applications worldwide, and has a regional representation in each country where SG is present

The vision within GTS is to provide leading edge cost effective technology services and support based on an infrastructure that is shared by the SG companies, requiring adherence to common standards, policies and security settings. The teams are globally aligned in order to leverage best practices, standards and procedures on a worldwide basis.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Storage (traditional and cloud) administration and engineering in a large 24x7 environment operating within the realms of Agile and ITIL processes
  • Development of documentation and procedures
  • Provide peer technology training sessions for on-prem cloud (CEPH, Cinder, OpenStack)
  • Devops tasks using Python, Flask, Git, Ansible, etc.
  • Closely communicate with both IT and business partners to design and implement solutions supporting business needs
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical environments on distributed applications and infrastructure
  • Contribute to market-watch initiatives and recommend solutions to improve the environment
  • Ensure procedures are followed and mechanisms are in place to ensure compliance to technical designs, best practices, and are well supported
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point

Profile required

Technical Skills:         

Excellent technical skills on the following technologies:

  • Dev (Python/Git)                                                          3+ years
  • Devops (OpenStack/CEPH/Cinder)                         2+ years
  • Object storage (S3)                                                     2+ years
  • Block storage                                                               1+ years
    • e.g. VMAX, VNX, Brocade, Pure
  • NAS (Netapp)                                                               1+ years

Proficient in:

  • Server OSs (Linux, Windows)
  • Configuration management (Ansible, Salt)
  • Cloud technology

Desired / Plus:

  • Backup technology experience

Competencies:

  • Client focused, must have a strong customer service mentality and ability to work with developers, users, and other staff
  • Able to work in a team environment while interacting across different group to accomplish projects
  • Hands-on design and implementation experience
  • Strong focus on automation and orchestration
  • Be available for weeknight and weekend on-call support
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral

Experience Needed:

  • Exposure to large production environment storage engineering
  • Exposure to ITIL/change management environment
  • Exposure to DR simulations

Languages: French required
