Storage and Backup Engineer, Asia Pacific

You will be onboarded in the Core/Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure department that develops and maintains the following services:

Core Hosting: 
o    Storage, Compute and Operating Systems
o    Datacenter Switching and Routing environments
o    WAN and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems
o    Market Access, Co-locations & Low latency applications

Cloud & Platform:
o    Private Cloud infrastructure (Ocs, Vcs..)
o    Public Cloud access points (Azure, Aws...)

The team is composed of DevOps Network experts, Sysadmins & Storage/Backup engineers working with Agile methodologies.

As a regional L3 Storage & Backup engineer, you will be responsible for all Storage and Backup technologies in Asia, working closely with strategic vendors and our offshored center of expertise in India (L1/L2 services). Your role will cover :

•    Storage & Backup administration & engineering in a large 24x7 production environment operating within the realms of Agile and ITIL processes
•    Engage clients to gather detailed specifications, design/implement solutions fully aligned with business needs
•    Diagnose, troubleshoot & resolve incidents in complex technical environments with distributed applications and infra
•    Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and respect technical/security designs, industry best practices
•    Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for Storage/Backup solutions in Asia
•    Maintain lifecycle of all storage and backup assets including capacity planning / performance management
•    Support internal/external audit, risk/compliance, security and other business needs
•    Develop, maintain and improve documentation and procedures, challenging & adapting global policies/standards
•    Ensure knowledge sharing and skill development in line with team strategy and regional needs
•    Deliver the team’s vision & roadmap consistent with GTS long term objectives and strategic goals
•    Lead, assist and help our offshored teams to grow in India
•    Continuous improvement & automation using DevOps skills to streamline/digitalize or get rid of manual processes
•    Work in shifts, be flexible to work outside standard office hours (eg evening or weekend operations...)

Profile required


Technical skills:

Minimum 5 years of experience with the following technologies:
•    Dell EMC Networker, Data Domain, ECS (Mandatory)
•    Veritas NetBackup
•    HP/Quantum tape library and Quantum SKM
•    Veeam Backup & Replication

Minimum 3 years of experience with the following technologies:
•    NetApp cluster mode and 7-mode (Mandatory)
•    Dell EMC VNX
•    Brocade/Cisco FC switch

Would be a plus:
•    Development experience (Python, Flask, Git, RestAPI...)
•    Automation mindset, experience with modern tools and platforms (Cloud, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform....)
•    Data analytics, visualization tools (ELK stack, Kibana, Grafana, Tableau, PowerBI....)

Other skills:
•    Solid project management experience on storage/backup technologies
•    Experienced on L3 operations such as capacity management, budgeting, MA management, etc
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Work independently without guidance, ability to handle pressure and meet hard deadlines
•    Strong production & collaboration mindset, be a team player !
•    Exposure to ITIL Service Management framework and Agile methodologies (scrum, Less...)
