Responsibilities

1. To contribute in the origination and execution of transactions in coordination with SG support function teams.

2. To assist in the approvals and KYC process for each SSL transaction.

3. To support senior members of the team in the development of product pitches for SSL clients.

4. To assist in the modelling and data input of potential SSL transactions.


5. To contribute to the organization of the SSL team as part of the GLFI business division both locally and globally.  

Technical:

1. Understanding of concepts underlying structured finance transactions including in a cross border context.  This may relate to specific areas such as tax-based or leasing, asset-backed financing or more general areas of structured finance. 

2. Ability to assist in the execution of structured finance transactions including legal documentation, risk and financial modelling aspects. 

3. Understanding of the risk concepts (conduct, reputational, financial, etc.) underlying the governance process for SSL, GLFI, and the SG Group.

1. Communication skills – ability to communicate internally with SG teams and external counterparts.  Fluency of English (speaking and writing skills) is required.

2. Client orientation - demonstrate appropriate standard of behavior for dealing with clients.

The VIE assignment in a nutshell 


This VIE in New York is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months. 

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com.  


Your profile


Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering school or University, majoring in Finance.

A previous experience in Investment Banking would be appreciated and a good understanding of financial regulatory and tax environment

You have an excellent level in English (write/read/speak)

You are proficient in Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

You have strong quantitative skills


Business Insight

SSL develops, originates and executes (alone or together with other business lines) structured banking products for clients or for SG’s itself. The nature of the transactions executed by SSL are varied but typically address a specific requirement of the client or SG (being fiscal, regulatory or accounting requirement) as follows:

• Asset backed financing including the following

- tax-based leasing

- non-tax based leasing

- asset-based financing

- acquisition of leasing companies and leasing assets 

• Financing or hedging transactions that provide an attractive financing cost and/or regulatory/capital efficiency

• Structuring M&A to increase efficiency on pre or post tax basis as appropriate

• Optimizing return on investments or risk profile

• Implementing efficient tools to manage cash positions including in emerging markets

• Transactions to enhance regulatory efficiency (eg: from Deferred Tax Assets)
