Responsibilities :

  • Providing legal advice for and ensuring transaction management of matters in relation to  structured products issued or guaranteed by SG listed on stock exchanges in Asia, including but not limited to reviewing and advising on:

                o    documentation relating to the issuance and post-issuance adjustments of such products; and
                o    other legal documentation entered into under or in connection with the above (including marketing arrangements and contracts with any index providers or service providers)

  • Providing pre-trade, execution and post-trade legal advice and assistance to the Front Office representatives and liaising with other relevant teams or departments of the bank in connection with the above
  • Participating in development and implementation of strategic tools relating to structured product, in particular in relation to product documentation production including testing and maintenance of appropriate documentation templates
  • Liaising with external counsel, local regulators and relevant service providers
  • Assisting with related processes and reporting
  • Reporting and escalating any legal-related issues to line managers as appropriate and coordinating with other members of the legal team
  • Providing innovative, commercially minded legal support to the development of new products

Profile required

  • Degree in law (Commonwealth law qualification preferred)
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience, ideally in a financial institution
  • Experience in structured products or equity derivatives; experience of listed products / DCM will be considered in priority 
  • Good communication skills and good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Traditional Chinese)
  • Problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail
  • Motivated and able to work independently, while respecting reporting procedures

The Legal Division serves a risk mitigation function witin the SG Group and defines the norms, standards, procedures and controls associated with the legal risk framework, regardless of the line of defence in which such legal risk issues arise. The Legal Division provides independent legal advice within the Group and among its roles, it identifies, assesses, analyses and mitigates legal risk issues within the Group.
