Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Accountable for the management of the Network Operations Team
  • Keep up-to date with the latest relevant technology, relevant standards, policies and directives;
  • Produce and maintain operations manuals/run books for the associated services for this team in line with corporate standards;
  • Identifies and acts upon opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce operational risks, optimise efficiency and improve standards;
  • Working with Strategy and Architecture to ensure that that the infrastructure and associated management tools are both supportable and maintainable;
  • That product road maps and any associated remediation plans are in place to address operational risks.
  • Take responsibility for the day to day operation of the team, providing overall guidance and supervision Maintain and monitor required staffing levels and schedule to ensure that the team can meet the demand and respond in a timely manner to network and server anomalies and outages
  • Maintenance –managing routines, obsolescence, contracts, suppliers, service providers
  • Provisioning – meeting SLA on new provisions, Service Restoration - meeting SLA on services
  • Capacity management – managing utilisation of assets
  • To develop the team and work with other departments
  • To act as an escalation point for customer problems and questions via telephone, e-mail and face to face
  • Happy to challenge existing processes and procedures
  • Previous extensive experience of building and developing a technical team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyse problems, issues & needs and provide robust but adaptable solutions which meet current and future requirements
  • The ability to handle objections and resistance to change Ability to cope with changing environment – including adapting to meet emergency business critical events

Effectively plans and organises own workload Self-motivated Capable of working under pressure/using own initiative with minimal supervision

Profile required

Knowledge/experience:

  • 10+ Years of experience in Network & Security Operations
  • Cisco CCIE certified
  • Experience, deploying and supporting enterprise infrastructure including the following: Switching, Routing, Cisco ACI, Checkpoint Firewall Firewalls, Fortinet Firewalls, McAfee Proxies , Wifi, Network Monitoring,
  • Experience of dealing with major Global Comms suppliers
  • Network Security and GDPR experience.
  • Expert Troubleshooting, Diagnostics & Event Log/Management analysis
  • Strong knowledge on Cisco Data Center products (Nexus series switches, Cisco ACI), Catalyst Series switches - Mandatory, Cisco ASR 9K (IOS XR) Cisco ASR 1K (IOS/IOS XE)
  • Strong knowledge on Routing/Switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, MST, PVST, L2 switching – Mandatory
  • Possess a clear understanding of capacity planning in various scenarios. Knowledge of Cisco routing/switching including Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, XR and NX-OS
  • Hands on and troubleshooting Routing. Switching, Nexus, ACI Network and OTV
  • Knowledge on various DC Architecture (DC-DR, Active-Active DC etc.)

Strong experience with L4-L7- load balancing, firewalls, etc. will be an advantage
