Within SG’s Investment Banking Division, the TMT Industry Group is responsible for driving the strategic dialogue with clients in the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors and positioning the bank on corporate finance opportunities (such as mergers and acquisitions advisory, equity capital markets/IPOs and event-driven financing,…).

Placed under a single management team, SG’s TMT Industry Group works hand in hand with SG’s TMT Finance Department. The combined team’s recent track record includes advising on flagship M&A transactions across the various TMT segments, leading a string of successful technology IPOs across several European markets and financing some of the largest TMT infrastructure projects in Europe. Société Générale’s success has been recognised through various prestigious industry awards, including TMT Finance’s “EMEA Bank of the Year in 2020 and in 2019”, Global Capital’s “ECM Bank of the Year” 2019, Euromoney’s “ Best Investment Bank in France 2019” and more.

TMT is one of the largest and fastest growing industry groups at SG and has been identified as a priority growth area in the bank’s 2021-2025 strategic plan.  
The Role

Owing to growing business volumes and activity, the TMT Industry group is currently seeking to add several Associates. Suitable candidates are likely to have 3+ years’ experience in corporate finance/M&A gained in the TMT sector team of an investment bank or boutique or advisory / transaction services teams of top accountancy firms. Candidates with a relevant corporate finance experience and a strong interest in TMT and seeking to secure a move into the sector will also be considered for the more junior roles.  

Based in either London or Paris and reporting to the Global Co-Heads of the Industry Group and working as an internal part of project teams, the key responsibilities of TMT Industry Group analysts include:

  • Project management and supervision of the work of analysts and trainees in the team
  • Take a lead role on financial analysis, advanced financial modelling and valuation work
  • Take a lead role on the preparation of presentations for corporate clients, investors and the broader investment community
  • Participation in all aspects of transaction origination and execution across the breadth of investment banking products (M&A, ECM, event driven financings,…) as an integral part of multidisciplinary project teams.  
  • Development of high quality and relevant sector content in a variety of sub-sectors
  • Mentoring of more junior members of the team

Profile required

Competencies

  • University education at either Bachelor or Masters level, with specialisation in business administration, finance or engineering (if supplemented by finance and accounting training)
  • 3+ years’ experience in corporate finance / M&A and knowledge of M&A and ECM processes
  • Knowledge of and strong interest in the TMT sector
  • Accounting and corporate finance knowledge
  • Excellent financial modelling skills and detailed knowledge of valuation techniques
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Ability to communicate articulately in English, with other European languages a plus
  • Team player and self-starter comfortable working in a high paced and highly collaborative environment
