Responsibilities

The Global and Integrated Finance Division (‘DFIN’) department’s aim is to add value to the SG Group and its business lines' development, through a transformation of our organisation and operating modes.  DFIN provides a key contribution to the SG Group value creation, through our activities of strategic advisory, steering, data production and certification.  We are engaged in all dimensions of performance evaluation across the SG Group and provide a transversal and objective vision to support informed decision-making for the management and development of the Group and its business lines.
DFIN PFS (Performance Financial Steering) is the division in charge of steering the financial performance of GBIS.  It measures and analyses the profitability of activities portfolio and the optimization of the use of all resources. It ensures the necessary support and the right level of expertise to the business partners, the management of GBIS.  Taking a cross-business view of the financial steering processes, PFS streamlines and provides momentum in terms of simplification and standardization.

DFIN PFS in the UK also covers performance steering of Global Market, Global Banking and Advisory performance, as well as Global transaction and payment services and other business lines and support functions in the UK. This role will focus on the Business Lines of the UK
In this role, and to start with, the Trainee is primarily responsible for supporting the team in charge of the business units at the UK level.

You will:

  • Support senior members on the deliverables related to the strategic and financial performance of the UK Business Units for Senior Management (e.g. expense report, monthly PnL, headcount)
  • Identifies trends and improvement areas in terms of business evolution, as well as providing meaningful commentary on the variances
  • Support the analysis work on regular reports, e.g. expenses reporting to Paris, monthly PnL, creating month end reports for presentation to the BL
  • Assist senior members of the team in coordinating the team in response to ad hoc requests and analysis and other PFS deliverables as required
  • Working with our offshore partners to ensure that all deliverables are achieved on a timely basis and to act as the interlocuter between the team, anticipating problems and working out solutions
  • Assist in digitalisation / efficiency improvement initiatives, set up and promote use of digital dashboard

Profile required

We are looking for candidates with:

  •  Degree or equivalent in a Finance-related subject advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Analytical and problem-solving capability: Able to break down complex problems into simple manageable units, develops solutions for each unit, and integrates them back into the whole. Can absorb ideas quickly and apply then pragmatically.
  • Results oriented: setting goals and priorities that maximize the use of resources available to consistently deliver quality results
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with excellent communication skills
  • Critical mind and high sensitivity to figures: Able to challenge figures provided
  • Ability to quickly give a synthetic overview (good oral & written communication)
  • Able to present confidently as there is constant interaction with senior management
  • Able to work under pressure and capable of meeting multiple deadlines
  • Proactive in learning and adaptive to changes
