Responsibilities

Base Salary Range: [$99,000 - $250,000] 
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.

Candidates with appropriate experience, may also be considered at a more senior role then VP, within the group.

Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing, and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients. On the one hand, our transversal, product-neutral coverage teams span all businesses to promote the bank's products and services to our clients globally, and on the other, we provide world-class capital raising, financing and advisory expertise.

Building on long-term relationships and based on a deep understanding of our clients, GLBA/FIG’s Client Coverage mission is to offer clients the whole range of solutions offered by SG CIB and the Group with a particular focus on strategic clients and the development of our investment banking activities.

Société Générale’s Financial Institutions Group (GLBA/FIG) is seeking a dynamic individual for a Vice President position in our New York office.  As a member of the FIG-insurance team, he/she will cultivate and develop relationships with some of the insurance clients of the bank and also assist our Senior Banker in banking the largest Insurance companies and related sectors in their daily activities, including direct client contact. 

He/she will get hands-on experience serving our institutional client base while gaining a deep understanding of how a global investment bank delivers its full suite of products.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Defining a clear commercial strategy in close collaboration with each business units with the right allocation of Balance Sheet to achieve sustainable, predictable, and profitable growth  
  • Develop a strong understanding of each business lines offering and risk appetite to ensure full alignment of client strategy with the bank’s risk appetite and operational capabilities
  • Source, analyze and provide reliable, punctual, accurate figures and reporting for client’s commercial activities and balance sheet/ scarce resource utilization for management purposes
  • Involvement in all credit related topics around his/her client names as LOD1
  • Work with Business Lines (BLs) to ensure an integrated approach to clients' needs and origination
  • Be the entry point for clients into our organization as well as acting as a trusted advisor to deliver the full SG platform to them on a global basis
  • Help the Insurance Sr Banker to develop a strategic/advisory dialogue at the C-suite level of our customers
  • Establish and grow profitable relationships in conjunction with local & global FIG Coverage Team, and Business Line partners to establish client connectivity across divisions/regions to drive profitable and sustainable commercial activity
  • Assist the team in coordinating specific client initiatives while analyzing business potential and cross -selling opportunities
  • Assist, develop and refine the preparation of account reviews, briefing notes and other presentations for senior management
  • Monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of internal data monitoring & related processes

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the Insurance & Re-Insurance sector and operations, and ability to adapt the coverage and capabilities to serve the changing client landscape.
  • Understanding of key risk metrics
  • Strong knowledge of products, solutions and services of MARK, GTPS & GLBA/ABP
  • Some good knowledge of structuring and financial engineering
  • Strong quantitative/analytic skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

Qualifications:

  • Extensive client connectivity and leadership experience
  • Track record of originating new business
  • Track record of managing clients at a very senior level
  • Ability to deploy a well-defined and profitable client strategy.

Experience Needed:

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in banking or other areas with at least 3-4 years of experience in the Insurance & Re-Insurance sectors

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a top tier University/College

Desired / Plus:

  • Post-Graduate Degree or equivalent (CFA, CFP, CPA, FRM etc..)
