Responsibilities

You will be expected to :

Work with APAC Regional Head of Sanctions Compliance to support senior management (including both at a local and a Group level) in discharging their Sanctions obligations, including but not limited to (i) management reporting, (ii) timely escalation of risks associated with financial crime / reputational matters,  and (iii) on-going review of the adequacy and effectiveness of the sanctions related financial crime control framework;

Work within the APAC Regional Sanctions Compliance team for Asia to ensure SG Group remains regulatory compliant in all S&E related matters including by developing and maintaining a solid knowledge of EU/US/UN/HK S&E regulations; ensure up-to-date knowledge on S&E regulatory trends and perform S&E regulatory watch ;

  • Timely clearance of S&E related alerts, including second level sanctions screening alerts generated through payment filtering system or customers and third parties referential database as well as S&E pre-transaction approval requests related to Trade Finance transactions ;
  • As and when required, the VIE may also be asked to provide support to the broader broader APAC Regional Financial Crime Unit team includin on AML related matters;
  • Liaison with Business Lines, Compliance teams, Global Solution Center Shared Service Center and other relevant departments on the alerts / BSA request handling, ensure the risks identified are managed or escalated and resolved in a timely manner;
  • Undertake ad hoc projects

Profile required

  • Graduate level with legal / finance or other professional qualification is required. Legal qualification covering EU or US law is a plus.
  • Display of innovation, team spirit and time management
  • Fluent English is mandatory


The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Hong Kong is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.

Department Description

The Regional Sanctions Compliance Team within the APAC Financial Crime Unit (FCU) is responsible with Compliance in Asia (CPLE/ASI) to maintain the SG Group FCU Policy standards on Sanctions & Embargoes ; ensuring SG Group remains regulatory compliant in all FCU Sanctions related matters.
