Responsibilities

Your activity as VIE Legal for Belgium and the Netherlands:

 

Reporting to the Head of Legal for Belgium and the Netherlands you will Support the Head of legal with the following:

 

  • Monitor legal and regulatory updates in both countries (regulatory watch with respect to changes in laws and/or regulations which might impact the activities of the branches);
  • Prepare and update template documentation for overdrafts, trade facilities and trade products;
  • Monitor the implementation of legal policies and standard practices in line with the Charter of the SG Group’s Legal Function (especially in the area of sanctions, AML and anti-bribery and corruption);
  • Provide input and local analysis on regulatory and transversal projects (i.e. FATCA, EMIR, MIFID 2, data protection, etc.);
  • Review contract and agreements and build up knowledge into identifying the main legal risks for the bank;
  • You will be asked to help the Head of legal to organise legal and compliance committees for both countries (including across entities: with SGEF, ALD); to help identify legal topics to be discussed and monitor the progress on identified actions;
  • Your activity will also include doing researches on very diverse legal topics: payment services, security and parent guarantee, GDPR topics, contract and obligations, specific labour law questions etc.  

Profile Required

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

 

This VIE in Amsterdam is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. Please see www.civiweb.com, in order to have more details regarding your financial indemnities.



Your Profile:

  • Graduate with a Master degree from Business School or University, majoring in Business Law, Contract Law or Banking&Finance Law
  • You have a previous experience in English 
  • Knowledge of Belgian and/or Dutch Law would be a plus
  • Fluent in English
  • Some knowledge of Dutch would be appreciated
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task whilst to strict deadlines
  • Able to work independently as well as report regularly on identified challenges;
  • Discretion and sensitivity in view of confidential nature of the information that may be accessed as part of the role.

You will be located in Amsterdam with very occasional travel in Brussels.
