The Global Banking Service Unit (GBSU) has worldwide responsibility for supplying Global Banking and Investor Solutions (GBIS) Divisions with the services and IT resources necessary for them to operate under competitive conditions in terms of technological standards, service quality and cost.  GBSU is composed of diverse and talented professionals who translate ideas into action every day by combining the strength of its expertise in IT and our business with a deep understanding of the investment banking business and regulations.

GBSU has a threefold responsibility as follows:  
(1) Deliver innovative solutions that enable GBIS to achieve its business objectives  
(2) Maintain a highly resilient, flexible, cost effective and well controlled production service for our business applications, systems and infrastructure 
(3) Facilitate entry into new markets, compliance with regulatory needs, growth in business volumes and add operational efficiency improvements in our overall front to back processing environment.

As a V.I.E. Programmer Analyst you will:

•    Design, develop and maintain applications within our team’s mandate.
•    Design, develop and maintain our operation and development platforms.
•    Participate in agile ceremonies and the continuous improvement of our development practices and tooling.
•    Work in collaboration with our stakeholders to establish requirements and roadmaps.
•    Participate in support and operation of the applications and services under our team’s responsibility.
•    Participate in the resolution of production incidents.
•    Communicate with users and other teams on projects, delivery, and production quality.
•    Participate QA and UAT testing around software development.
•    Participate in Change Management / Release Management (CMRM) processes.
•    Conduct data analysis for our users or for improvement purposes.

Please note that for the missions outside the European countries, a VISA is necessary. Please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure. Otherwise, we strongly advise you to launch asap the renewal of your passport.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Computer Science or equivalent
  • A previous experience in relational databases like PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Oracle, would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English and in French (B2-C1)

Technical, operational & soft skills:      

  • Good level of expertise in implementing solutions using Java with focus on API development and performance
  • Hands-on expertise in Springboot, microservices and REST API
  • Hands-on experience with Spring and Hibernate frameworks
  • Experience working on containers – Kubernetes / Docker
  • Git/GitHub, Continuous integration using Maven & Jenkins
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills
  • Hands-on experience in Agile best practices TDD, BDD, Refactoring and Clean Code
  • Clear understanding of Software Development life cycle and process Oriented
  • Good background on preparation and performing functional/manual testing
  • Strong understanding of Agile practices, roles and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of CI-CD practices & tools (JIRA)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under agile teams with focus on understanding and contributing to team’s priorities
  • Be client and value oriented
  • Adaptable to changing environment/demands
  • Fast learning capacity and autonomy
  • Ability to multi-task effectively to meet time-sensitive deadlines and balance pressure from stakeholders

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.
