Sergey, tell us please, how did you choose your profession?

I was interested in two very different lines: economy and aviation. My father has been working as a pilot of a passengers’ line aircraft. The family tradition prevailed at first; I entered Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). On the third course I published my CV in the Internet and got an invitation on the interview. At that time I had never heard about Societe Generale Group. But during the preparation for interviews I was gathering information about the employer and understood that this is exactly what I need: work in a huge financial structure, where all opportunities for career development and professional growth are available. The job offer proposed was in a call-centre, the schedule was suitable for me because it allowed combining work and study.

Your career can be called a dynamic. Tell us, how did you get from Call-Centre to Corporate Business Direction?

At the beginning I took part into several useful trainings, which gave me an opportunity of fast integrating into a work process. Of course, I was supported by the call-centre team, which helped me to feel at ease with a new sphere. I have graduated from the MAI with honours in 2010 and thought about my future path. At the moment the position in Structured Finance & Work with Natural Resources Sectors’ Companies Division was opened in our bank. I decided to take the opportunity and took part in a competition.

At the beginning it was not easy, because I had to completely change my activity line. But thanks to team and my manager I had been getting the feel of work fast. After 1 year of work I understood that for the future development I need to have an economic education. I entered the Financial University under the Government of Russian Federation and after 3 years I graduated from it with a degree in «Financial management» of «Finance and loans» faculty.

What had encouraged your professional growth?

Firstly, I suppose that these are teams, with whom I had a chance to work. It would be extremely difficult to reach what I have today without colleagues and managers support. Secondly, you need to be a workaholic. When you endeavor sparing no pains and time, you will be always appreciated. And crucially, there should be a sensible approach: no moving around from one to another department in hope of immediate improvement of work conditions . You need to move in a chosen way calmly and the result will not be long in coming.

For what are you responsible now?

I work with natural resources and related fields (transportation, trading etc.) sectors’ companies. My zone of responsibility includes new clients search, customer relationship management and banking products distribution. I appreciate cooperation with successful and talented managers from corporate clients, representatives from powerful banks’ business-departments as well. It gives me a unique experience for my professional development as a banker.

Probably, that work is not easy! How do you handle with complications?

There are always complications, but colleagues’ advice help me to get over these difficulties. I am confident that you should not be depressed, because it can be an obstacle in solution of a question. If you have a positive mood you can overcome an issue even it is very complicated.

What would you advise to young graduates, who want to start their career in a bank?

Never give up, always strive for a goal and never do things by halves. Believe in yourself, and the whole point is to work well and be hard at work.

"Do not be afraid of experiments. Try new things!"

Aleksey, hi! Tell us please how did you start your career in Rosbank?

My first education is physico-mathematical: I had got a bachelor degree and then I got second high education with a degree in economy. My career began from the victory in Federal scholarship program of Vladimir Potanin Fund in 2004. Rosbank was a Fund partner in our days. I was thinking about starting career opportunity here. I undertook an internship in Volgogradsky branch and then I was proposed a loan specialist position. Then I worked in call-centre, in a mortgage loans confirming unit, I supervised all the mortgage line in Volgograd and manage the sub branch quite effectively. Once I was suggested to become a head of one of Moscow bank offices. I took up the challenge, it was a real test: it wasn’t easy. As a result I succeeded in getting the bank office up to leading positions. When a new relevant position appeared I was proposed to head the mortgage division in Moscow.

What do you like in your work best of all?

The most what I like in my work is that it gives me and my team a concrete result. It is pleasant when you can look back comparing your work results during different periods; see a real dynamic and onward movement. I appreciate an opportunity to suggest innovative ideas, implement projects and see how they work. I am a team player: there are 50 employees in my present Division, all of them are real experts. In spite of the fact that we have a very strong team, we always need new active employees. We are open for young talented people, who want to grow in a bank.

Can you please describe your work specificity?

Mortgage loans – one of the most complex product in retail banking. We deal with private clients, entrepreneurs and entities. It is not simple to gain a maximum level in market conditions which are always changing, you need to keep abreast, develop yourself every day. The peculiarity of Rosbank is a client oriented approach. Each client is unique; we seek to provide best conditions only. Of course, service must be at a high level. If the client satisfied he will recommend his friends to use our bank services.

What would you advise to young graduates, who want to start their career in a bank?

Do not be afraid to set ambitious targets and carry out experiments. To understand it is your career and you need to try out. You have to be energetic, set clear objectives. There is a system, regulations and business-requests, but creativity and uncommon approach are always observed. Try new things!
