ALGO DEVELOPER
Responsibilities
As an Algo Developer supporting Bernstein SG’s electronic execution activities, you will develop, test, refine and document algorithmic trading and smart-order-routing components used within the firm’s market-access infrastructure. You will work closely with quantitative, trading and technology stakeholders to enhance performance and support controlled deployment into production environments. The role is expected to actively leverage and contribute to AI-powered workflows, automation initiatives and data-driven decision-support capabilities that enhance Bernstein SG’s execution platform and client experience.
Your main responsibilities will include:
· Develop algorithmic execution components and smart order routers for the firm’s market-access infrastructure.
· Back-test and refine the existing code base to support performance optimisation.
· Implement enhancements arising from quantitative research and strategy fine-tuning.
· Develop and maintain tools supporting TCA, order monitoring and execution-performance analysis.
· Write clear technical documentation and maintain well-organised code libraries.
· Apply testing, version control, peer review and controlled release practices.
· Investigate defects, performance issues and execution exceptions.
· Liaise with IT functions for technical deployment into production environments.
· Support validation of outputs and controls before and after material changes.
· Comply with applicable risk, conduct, confidentiality and internal-control requirements.
Profile required
· Strong software-development experience in a relevant language, with Python, C++ or Java advantageous depending on the technology stack.
· Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, software architecture and performance optimisation.
· Experience with automated testing, back-testing, debugging, version control and controlled deployment.
· Understanding of electronic trading, algorithmic execution, smart order routing or market-access systems.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and collaboration skills.
· Understanding of secure development, information security, access controls and operational resilience.
AI & Automation Competencies· Experience developing AI-enabled applications, intelligent workflows and automated analytical or decision-support solutions.
· Familiarity with large language models, generative AI architectures and AI-agent concepts.
· Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, model orchestration and controlled grounding in approved data sources.
· Experience integrating AI services and models through secure APIs, cloud services or approved internal platforms.
· Ability to design, develop, test and maintain AI-powered tools supporting execution and monitoring.
· Understanding of model evaluation, hallucination risk, guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls and AI monitoring.
· Experience implementing secure AI solutions meeting privacy, security, access-control and resilience requirements.
· Ability to identify, prototype and industrialise relevant AI use cases within trading and execution environments.
