Morgan, Technical Leader
You wouldn’t guess it at first glance, but Morgan is working on issues that will reinvent baking for all of us. Facial biometrics and voice recognition, for example, are two advanced technologies that will completely change the relationship between a bank and its users. These two technologies are crucial for cybersecurity issues – the major challenge for our sector. The reality of our IT departments today is: seeking out the latest innovations capable of transforming our field or inventing them if they don’t already exist.

In our group, we’re learning together, thanks to an international community of programmers, all experts in their specific domains, and most importantly because in a sector that changes as quickly as IT, it is becoming crucial to pull down barriers between minds and skill sets. Today, IT jobs are at the heart of our strategy, connecting each sector and each project we undertake: rather ideal for discovering new horizons within the group.
Our IT mindset in a few lines (of code)
- Working in pair programming, for constantly proofing code and spotting mistakes

The ambition of Societe Generale in this context, it's to truly create the bank of tomorrow. What is the bank of tomorrow? It's a digitalized bank of course which offers its customers a smoother, more flexible and more supple. It's also a bank more responsible who considers and who acts on the issues societal and environmental.
We are now talking about eco-design, what we will look for in the design phase, very important phase in the design of tomorrow's applications, it is to plan to limit the carbon impact of this tomorrow and therefore by any methodological impact, we are currently supporting, through a large deployment, our employees in this fairly critical phase to guarantee the frugal impact we hope for tomorrow.
For me, data at Societe Generale, is what will allow the profession to go further, automate tasks that take time. It's ultimately to propose a customer service that is going to be more appropriate.
If I had someone in front of me who was reluctant to join Societe Generale I would like to tell her to really try to go beyond what we can think of the information system in a large bank and to realize, by coming to see us, that we really use the latest technologies, that we are really up to date on the methodologies.
Societe Generale, to face this challenge, can count on its IT teams which is 25,000 men and women strong which makes it the most important branch of the Group.
Closing remarks from Morgan, Tech Lead
« Five years ago, I didn’t have any opinions about the banking sector. What interested me the most was the technical challenge. In giving conferences and meeting lots of people, I quickly realized that the banking domain was super challenging in therms of technology. Real performance issues, and issues with developing really fast! That’s when I thought: this sector could be right for me.»
