Investment Banking Associate - ABS
Responsibilities
The broader Securitization team is an investment banking function that operates within Société Générale’s Distribution and Credit Solutions (DCS) business, which is a joint-venture between the Investment Banking (GLBA) and Markets (MARK) divisions in the Americas. The joint-venture strategically combines Société Générale’s Credit & Financing capabilities with SG’s Capital Markets expertise.
DCS is providing a one-stop-shop to address the evolving client needs while providing them with comprehensive and holistic solutions. The objectives are: to (i) centralize origination and increase distribution, and (ii) provide services to fund managers to support them throughout their funds’ life cycle, alongside our recognized expertise and market positioning in serving our traditional corporate clients.
As an Associate in the securitization team, you will have the opportunity to apply your existing knowledge and build on your industry experience by learning from a team of experienced asset-backed products practitioners based in our New York office and covering the Americas. You will further develop skills for client marketing and pitching, transaction structuring, credit and cashflow analysis, risk assessment, ongoing portfolio and transaction management, private and public debt distribution – all core aspects of the securitization platform at SG business - through ad hoc training and on-the-job experience. You will be involved in all stages of the deal life cycle across public ABS and private financing, from preparation of initial client proposals through to credit analysis and preparation of submission for internal approvals and deal execution in both private format and public securitization markets. You will assume responsibility for certain aspects of origination and transaction execution on a case-by-case basis.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting origination and structuring efforts;
- Preparing client pitches and other marketing materials;
- Credit and cash flow analysis and preparing credit and other internal approval requests;
- Deal execution both internally and externally in the context of public securitization transactions;
- Conducting client due diligence and managing client onboarding;
- Portfolio and business performance reporting; and
- Other ad hoc business and transaction specific requirements.

As part of your role within the securitization business, you will interact with other SG teams such as Syndicate, Trading and Sales, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Client Coverage, to name a few.
Profile required
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proactive problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently as well as collaborate with team members
- Strong proficiency and technical skill in using Excel, Powerpoint,, Intex , Bloomberg.
- Ability to understand industry concepts, including net present value, risk retention, priority of payments, breakeven analysis, legal final maturities, residual valuation, rating agency methodologies, deal surveillance, prepayment and default forecasting.
- Series 79 & 63.
Must Have:
- General/Technical Skills: advanced Excel, advanced Powerpoint, Intex, strong written and verbal communication skills
- 5+ years of experience
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Law, Accounting, Science or Engineering
- Language(s) English

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
