Lead Software Engineer (DB Expert)

1. Oracle Database Architecture & Application Design
- Design and maintain PL/SQL packages, schema structures, indexing strategies, and data models aligned with application requirements.
- Work with application architects to translate functional flows into efficient DB structures.
- Recommend and enforce best practices around data modeling, partitioning, materialized views, and storage design.
- Conduct deep‑dive analysis of SQL queries, execution plans, AWR/ASH reports, and Oracle Performance Hub.
- Optimize complex PL/SQL code, triggers, functions, and stored procedures.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the application–DB interface.
- Work with full‑stack teams to validate and optimize ORM mappings, JDBC/ODP.NET usage, and application query patterns.
- Ensure adherence to Oracle DB best practices in application code.
- Provide guidance on transaction management, concurrency control, and cursor handling.
- Manage schema changes, DB deployments, versioning, and rollbacks using tools such as Liquibase/Flyway (if applicable).
- Monitor database health using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWR, ASH, ADDM.
- Ensure strong backup, recovery, high availability (RAC/Data Guard), and DR strategies.
- Implement and manage Oracle security features: roles, privileges, auditing, TDE, data masking, VPD/FGA.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PCI‑DSS).
- Maintain data quality and validation standards for the application domain.
- Lead resolution of Oracle‑related incidents, including performance degradations, deadlocks, and data inconsistencies.
- Perform RCA for outages and propose preventive measures.
- Work with SRE/DevOps teams to automate Oracle health checks and alerting.
- Serve as the point of contact for all Oracle DB matters for the specific application.
- Coach developers on SQL and PL/SQL best practices.
- Collaborate in solution design discussions for new features requiring database involvement.
8. Support Application Release
Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Skills- Strong expertise in Oracle Database (versions 19c and above).
- Expert‑level knowledge in:
- PL/SQL development
- Performance tuning
- Query optimization and indexing strategies
- Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN
- Partitioning, materialized views, advanced queuing
- Familiarity with:
- Application frameworks and ORMs
- CI/CD and DB migration tooling
- Monitoring tools

- Ability to explain complex DB concepts to non‑DB engineers.
