Specialist Software Engineer - Senior Power BI Specialist

We are looking for a Senior Power BI Specialist (Expert) with strong expertise in Power BI Report Server, who will play a key role in the transition to Power BI Service.

This position is a hands‑on expert role with technical leadership responsibilities, acting as the go‑to Power BI authority for business and IT stakeholders. The role requires a strong combination of advanced Power BI expertise, data modeling excellence, governance mindset, and collaboration skills within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Power BI Expertise & Delivery

• Act as the Power BI subject matter expert across on‑premise and cloud environments
• Design, develop, and maintain complex, high‑performance dashboards and reports
• Build scalable and optimized data models using best practices (star schema, advanced DAX)
• Ensure high data quality, accuracy, and consistency

Migration & Cloud Enablement

• Lead and support the migration from Power BI Report Server to Power BI Service (S1 2027)
• Define migration strategies, standards, and best practices
• Configure Power BI Service components (workspaces, datasets, refresh, deployment pipelines)

Governance & Security

• Define and enforce Power BI governance standards
• Manage security and access control (Row‑Level Security, permissions, sensitivity labels)
• Ensure compliance with enterprise and data security policies

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into BI solutions
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and IT teams (sources, pipelines, infrastructure)
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Power BI developers and analysts
• Contribute to documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing

Mandatory Skills

• Power BI Report Server – Expert level
• Power BI Service (datasets, workspaces, deployment pipelines)
• Advanced DAX (complex measures, optimization, performance tuning)
• Power Query (M language)
• Data Modeling (star schema, performance‑oriented design)
• Advanced SQL
• Power BI Security (RLS, governance, access management)

Good to Have

• Proven experience with Power BI RS → Power BI Service migration
• Python or similar scripting language
• CI/CD automation for Power BI
• Experience in large enterprise or global delivery environments

Tools & Environment

• Power BI Desktop / Service / Report Server
• Git or equivalent
• Jira

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data, Engineering, or related field
• Bachelor’s degree acceptable with strong and relevant experience
• Certifications are a plus:
  • Microsoft Power BI / Fabric
  • ITIL (enterprise context)
