V.I.E (INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERING) OFFERS IN THE BANKING SECTOR

WHERE DO BANKS RECRUIT FOR V.I.E?

With a large number of offers every year, banking is the business sector offering the most V.I.E assignments (international volunteering experience).
Most V.I.E in the banking sector are offered on the major foreign financial markets: London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Luxembourg. Société Générale offers assignments all over the world. Explore our offers in Germany and Italy in particular.

WHICH PROFILES ARE SOUGHT AFTER BY THE BANKING SECTOR?

The profiles sought after are post-graduates (business and engineering schools, universities). These profiles come primarily from the maths/finance and IT sectors, and to a lesser extent, audit, human resources, communication or project management.
A good level of English is required and it is sometimes necessary to be fluent in the language of the host country.

WHAT ASSIGNMENTS ARE OFFERED IN V.I.E?

Most assignments concern the financial markets (sales, structuring, share analysis, etc.) or the financing sector in general (credit analyst, structured financing analyst, etc.).
Some assignments are also offered in support functions (management control, IT, project management and so on, and less frequently in human resources, law and so on).

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I FIND V.I.E OFFERS?

There is no special period for applying for a V.I.E as the offer is available throughout the year. Bearing in mind recruitment time frames, we recommend applying 4 to 5 months before the start of the assignment.
Offers are published on the companies’ recruitment sites and also on CiviWeb.

HOW CAN AN APPLICANT STAND OUT?

Great importance is accorded to early experience in the relevant sector: internship, work-study training or gap year or break in studies.
Because some countries are in high demand, it is better to favour an assignment and have a wide choice of destinations.
And lastly, it is crucial that you send your application in English for English-speaking countries.

At Société Générale, more than 600 V.I.E jobs every year need to be filled in 35 countries around the world. The V.I.E programme provides an opportunity to gain experience abroad in one of the Group's subsidiaries. This programme usually lasts between 12 and 24 months.
