Responsibilities

·       Drafting, reviewing and negotiating all manner of transaction documentation

·       Providing advice and counseling on documentation; structuring and negotiating transactions; advising and supporting clients in new product development

·       Following and advising legal and regulatory developments affecting covered products and businesses

·       Working with multiple stakeholders within the firm (risk, tax, accounting, compliance, etc.) as well as with the primary business personnel; and coordinating/supervising activities of external counsel.

This is a six month program with the potential to be hired full time.

Societe Generale’s Career Arc Returnship program is designed to give professionals like you a chance to re-enter the workforce and refresh and sharpen skills through a 6-month paid internship.  During the internship you will be given the opportunity to perform meaningful work in a supportive environment while reacclimating to the financial industry.  We value a variety of backgrounds and levels of talent and are looking for individuals with backgrounds aligned to the following mission of the business: The mission of the Legal Department is to protect Societe Generale from legal, regulatory, reputational, and other risks, while at the same time assisting the business units in the achievement of their legitimate business interests by providing effective and quality legal services and advice, drafting and reviewing legal documentation and ensuring that business is conducted in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.  The Legal Department is also responsible for (a) overseeing litigation, enforcement actions and investigations; (b) promoting strong and ethical legal culture within the Americas; and (c) identifying and mitigating legal risk arising. The members of the Canadian Legal Department work closely with the American Legal Department as we form the Americas Legal Group, and thereby collaborate on regional projects and strive to align on key principles, policies and procedures, and on cross-border business transactions and activities.

Must Have:

  • A minimum of a 2-year career gap
  •    Knowledge in US securities laws, including the Securities Act, the Exchange Act, FINRA broker-dealer rules, CFTC rules and regulations, and insolvency law frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong background in US Securities Law
  • Good discipline
  • Minimum years of industry experience: 4 years
  • Years of Experience (number only) (maximum): 10 years
  • Language(s) English

Nice to Have:

  • Last Corporate Title of Vice President, Executive Director, Director, or Managing Director
  • Preferred Education Background: Law Degree and Active Member, NY State Bar
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

COMPENSATION & SALARY RANGE:

Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.
