Responsibilities

Job Summary

 Seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to drive training, expertise development, and business process management across our Trade Operations teams located in India and France. This role is instrumental in enabling a robust operating model that integrates multilingual capabilities (with a focus on French) and high-level trade finance expertise to support the global expansion, process reengineering, and offshoring objectives of OPE TRA.

The role demands a high level of coordination between global teams, a good understanding of trade finance operations, and an ability to build a scalable learning and development ecosystem that bridges capability gaps and promotes operational excellence.

This role will oversee the training, expertise and Business Process management of the trade operations team of approx. 350 people located in India (Bangalore and Chennai), in China (Beijing), and France (3 locations Paris, Lille and Marseille) for GTPS and SGRF.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Training Strategy and Development

  • Design and implement a comprehensive training framework for Trade Operations covering:
    • Core trade finance products and services (Letters of Credit, Collections, Guarantees, Supply Chain Finance, etc.)
    • SWIFT, UCP600, URDG, Incoterms, and other regulatory/trade compliance aspects
    • End-to-end operational workflows, risk controls, and customer handling
    • French language proficiency tailored for trade finance context
  • Establish a certification model to validate trade knowledge and language capability at different levels.
  • Collaborate with external partners (language institutes, trade certification bodies) to deliver specialized training.

2. Expertise Building and Knowledge Management

  • Set up Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in India for high-value processes and niche trade services.
  • Build and lead a cadre of subject matter experts (SMEs) in both India and France to drive knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain a knowledge repository (SOPs, FAQs, quick reference guides, process maps).
  • Develop a mentoring and coaching framework for accelerated capability building.

3. Business Process Management

  • Drive the analysis, design, and continuous improvement of trade processes to support offshoring and scalability.
  • Lead efforts to document, benchmark, and optimize current state operations; identify opportunities for automation and standardization.
  • Monitor key operational KPIs, SLAs, and develop dashboards to support governance.

4. Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the change agent for the new operating model that integrates multilingual, cross-border operational teams.
  • Develop a communication and engagement plan to ensure buy-in across India and France for process and training initiatives.
  • Liaise closely with Business Heads, Risk & Compliance, HR L&D, and external vendors to align training and process goals with organizational strategy.

5. Talent & Performance Development

  • Identify skill gaps and future workforce needs; craft targeted development plans for different employee segments.
  • Champion internal mobility, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development in trade operations.
  • Implement performance metrics to assess training effectiveness and process maturity.

Profile required

Key Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or International Trade.
  • Professional certification in Trade Finance (e.g., CDCS, CSDG) preferred.
  • Formal training in Business Process Management or Six Sigma is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 12–15 years of experience in operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up or leading large-scale training and transformation programs.
  • Proven track record of working in a cross-border setup (India-France or similar), with cultural sensitivity and stakeholder management expertise.
  • Experience with process transition, offshoring, or shared service center environments.

This is a strategic role with high visibility. The incumbent may grow into roles or take up leadership roles in operations or transformation at a regional or global level within GTPS OPE TRA or within GTPS OPE.
