CCP Credit Analyst - Associate
Responsibilities
HPC operates within SG’s risk department on market activities (RISQ/RMA) and provides counterparty risk management for hedge funds, fund of hedge funds, proprietary trading groups and Central Counterparty Clearing Houses (CCPs). As a second line of defense (LOD2), the department provides independent risk control services for SG when exposed to these counterparty client types. It performs full risk assessment including client due diligence, limit setting, counterparty rating as well as monitoring of counterparty risk exposures.
Within RISQ/RMA/HPC/AME team, the CCP analyst will focus on assessing the risk on CCPs and related entities (FMIs – financial market infrastructures). His/her main missions will be: (i) assessing the risks related to SG’s clearing activities (for its own account as well as for its clients) with various CCPs, through quantitative and qualitative analysis; (ii) assessing the risks related to SG’s bilateral activities with CCPs and related FMIs; and (iii) monitor risk metrics in SG systems for breaches in clearing or bilateral activity at CCPs.
Core Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor CCP exposure and escalate/ address any breaches in CCP limits and threshold and STT exposure.
- Create reports/ deck (PPT and Spreadsheets) and comparison charst on CCP risk metrics and stress test results for SG’s various internal committees.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the CCP risks metrics and exposure.
- Conduct CCP annual reviews
- Assess the first level analysis produced by MARK/RSR (1st line of defense) regarding the risks related to individual CCPs;
- Conduct further analysis and due diligence of the CCP through reviews of CCPs’ rulebook, procedure, methodology documents, financial statements and other risk metrics;
- Write annual review (risk analysis) reports and make recommendations regarding limits.
- Review CCP bilateral lines limits and follow-up on any breaches.
- Work on ad-hoc projects periodically on CCP related topics and asks from management.
- Assist in coverage from RISQ for CCP annual drills.
- Assist in ad-hoc projects relating to FCM risk management.
- Additionally, assist the HPC team in conducting Hedge Fund reviews and monitoring daily overshoots across all applicable metrics.
- Take on ad-hoc responsibilities for the HPC team when required.
- Build proficiency with all systems and processes used by the Group.
Profile required
Competencies:
Knowledge of Clearing and Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs), especially CCPs and their activities (basic knowledge of Dodd-Frank and mandatory clearing of all standardized derivatives).
Good understanding of the derivatives markets and products – the risks covering OTC and listed products.
A quantitative background will be a plus.
Should be pro-active and a team player and have good communications skills.
· Ability to meet deadlines and work independently as well as contribute to team goals
- Should be comfortable conducting due diligence calls/ meetings with CCPs and stakeholders regularly.
Experience Needed:
At least 2-3 years of experience in financial markets, in a Front Office or Risk position.
Experience in the Clearing space – knowledge of OTC and listed derivatives markts.
- Experience in credit risk analysis and margin (SPAN, VAR) models.
- Familiarity in reading and understanding detailed rulebooks, financials, methodology documents.
Technical Skills:
- Good analytical skills; statistics skills: basic understanding of margin models and risk methodologies
- Good writing (in English) and presentation skills
- Good knowledge of creating PPT presentations
- Familiarity working with AI tools such as ChatGPT.
Education:
· Bachelors or Post graduate degree in finance, economics, or mathematics

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.
