Responsibilities
Department / Project Overview – GTS/PAS/DRE Team provides 24 * 7 production database support to all the MKT/GDI & Retail Banking customers across SG group. Project includes incidents, requests & changes management on all the Retail applications hosted on multiple technologies including Oracle, MSSQL, Informix, DB2, Teradata & Open Source RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MongoDB & MYSQL). The project is responsible for the complete life cycle management of databases including Migrations, Upgrades etc. Additionally the project supports all the maintenance operations, performance analysis & troubleshooting, patching & DRP exercises.
Oracle DBA expert - Golden gate expertise
Role Overview
The Expert Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for architecting, implementing, optimizing, and supporting enterprise-grade Oracle database environments. The role demands advanced technical depth, hands-on experience with Oracle technologies predominantly golden gate setups, and the ability to drive database strategy, performance, security, and reliability across mission‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Architecture & Design
Design and implement scalable, secure, high‑availability Oracle database environments.
Lead decisions on database topology, clustering, replication, and storage architecture.
Evaluate new Oracle features, technologies, and cloud offerings (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure).
2. Database Administration
Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle databases (Oracle 11g/12c/19c/21c).
Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, and Exadata environments.
Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
3. Performance Optimization
Conduct deep performance analysis using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and SQL tuning tools.
Optimize complex SQL queries, PL/SQL code, and database workload distribution.
Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
4. Security & Compliance
Implement advanced database security measures: encryption, auditing, access controls.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOX).
Conduct regular security vulnerability assessments and remediation.
5. High Availability & Disaster Recovery
Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard, GoldenGate, and RAC clusters.
Own DR drills, capacity planning, failover/failback procedures, and resilience engineering.
6. Automation & Scripting
Automate administration tasks using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
Build monitoring dashboards and alerts using OEM, Prometheus, or similar tools.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams.
Provide database expertise to architects, developers, and leadership.
Support release management, code deployment, and change management processes.
8. Troubleshooting & Support
Lead resolution of complex production incidents and root cause analysis.
Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
10+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience.
Expertise in Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, OEM, and Exadata.
Strong SQL/PL-SQL tuning and optimization skills.
Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
Knowledge of cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Ansible) is a strong plus.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Leadership in complex technical environments.
Preferred Certifications
Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – in latest database versions
OCI Architect Associate/Professional
ITIL Foundation (optional)
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Profile required
Years of Experience –15+ years and above
Qualification / Certification – Engineering graduate / MCA / Computer Science Graduate or PG. Any relevant RDBMS certification is an added advantage.
