Digital Assets Legal Advisor
Responsibilities
SG seeks a Digital Assets Legal Advisor who will provide expert guidance on regulations pertaining to tokenization, stablecoins, and broader digital asset services. This role requires rapidly developing familiarity with emerging frameworks such as the GENIUS Act, CLARITY Act, recent SEC/CFTC rule changes, and other federal or state reforms. The advisor will be responsible for offering legal counsel on U.S. stablecoin issuance, supporting banking and investment services related to digital assets, and supplying regulatory advice to transactional, risk, and operations teams regarding blockchain securities and licensing.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate agility in navigating both regulatory advisory and transactional support within a dynamic, fast-changing sector, and will have the motivation to grow their expertise along with the evolving regulatory landscape. The key job activities of this position will include:
Legal Advice on Digital Asset Regulatory Frameworks:
- Advise on digital asset regulatory frameworks, including the GENIUS Act, market structure legislation, SEC reforms, and other applicable laws.
- Act as legal coverage attorney and serve as U.S. subject matter expert for digital assets, including broker-dealer matters.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams, particularly in AML/sanctions, banking law, and legislative or regulatory advocacy.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments, such as the CLARITY Act, crypto reports, white papers, and significant reforms.
- Support cross-functional projects with SG Forge to incorporate U.S. legal and regulatory considerations into new products.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders on digital asset legal and regulatory issues and engage regularly with colleagues in Paris.
Regulatory Rulemaking and Advocacy:
- Track developments in regulatory rulemaking for the GENIUS Act and shape advocacy positions for SG.
- Advise business lines on changes in the U.S. regulatory environment for digital assets, with a focus on Stablecoins and the GENIUS Act.
- Develop and implement legal and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with SG’s business lines, especially SG-Forge, the subsidiary managing digital assets. Support traditional legal and regulatory work associated with the digital assets business.

The US Legal Department works in collaboration with a global team with main hubs in London, Paris and Hong Kong. The Legal Group has strong alignment with business and operational activity globally and therefore plays a key role in the success of Societe Generale’s investment baking ambitions. The Legal Group interacts directly both with external counterparts and with members of internal business divisions while also coordinating the efforts of credit, risk, operations and collateral teams who share responsibility for the success of SG’s client on-boarding activities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school (or LLM equivalent)
- Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Experience serving as a legal advisor or lawyer (or comparable role) at a bank, broker-dealer, law firm, or a digital asset firm.
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability and interest in reading regulations and focusing on details.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment.
- Legal risk management assessment skills: experienced in the process of assessing the legal risks associated with a business environment
- Results oriented: setting goals and priorities that maximize the use of resources available to consistently deliver quality results

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
