RISK DIVISION (RISQ)

Risk Management in the UK is organised along a three lines of defence model with well-defined and segregated responsibilities aligned with the Group framework as well as applicable local regulatory requirements and guidance. RISQ is part of the second line of defence and aims to independently analyse, challenge, opine on and monitor the risk-taking activities of the Business Lines thereby enabling effective execution of the Bank’s strategy in line with its risk appetite.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Enterprise Risk Management Officer Role

This role reports to the Head of ERM, UK. The scope of the ERM function includes:

  Definition and implementation of risk (including E&S) management transversal processes such as Risk Identification, Risk Appetite, development of the Risk Management Framework, and ad hoc analysis for Societe Generale London Branch (SGLB) and Societe Generale International Limited (SGIL)

  Co-ordination of and input to the key facets of the SGIL Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)

  Periodic view of SGLB and SGIL risk profile and risk governance

  Coordination of the regulatory watch for RISQ in the UK, assistance with the implementation of new regulations where required

  Participation in Group-level developments, liaising with other wholesale locations (ASIA and AMER) and Group (RISQ/ERM).

Summary of responsibilities 

  Implementation and monitoring of the standards for key components of the normative documentation (Risk Appetite Framework (RAF), Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), Risk Management Framework (RMF)) for SGLB and SGIL:

o   Co-ordination of the update process (at least annually)

o   Ensure consistency with the Group normative documentation

o   Establish alignment with regulatory expectations

o   Preparation of clear, accurate and efficient documentation and related summaries

o   Establish and monitor adherence to the RAF, RAS, RMF

  Coordinate and enhance SGLB and SGIL risk identification and assessment framework and conduct periodic risk identification and assessment campaigns;

  Participate in the SGIL ICAAP

  Undertake the review and challenge of key ESG risk factor and capital management aspects

  Maintain awareness of business, regulatory and market developments, providing support and thought leadership to enhance risk management

  Preparation of documentation and presentation for relevant governance fora

  Preparation of impact / action summaries related to relevant regulatory developments

  Participate in and/or lead projects as required

  Support the embedding of strong risk culture and sound governance

Profile required

Competencies

Flexibility in approach to deliver in a job requirement that is evolving, and having a change the bank mindset to leading change delivery across varying stakeholder groups

 

-          Advanced understanding of enterprise risk management in a banking environment

-          Deep experience in developing Risk Management Frameworks, Risk Appetite, Risk identification and assessment, capital management and production of ICAAP deliverables

-          Strong quantitative knowledge and skills linked to financial statements, performance analysis and ICAAP

-          Subject matter expertise on stress testing and reverse stress testing

-          Sound knowledge of and experience in identifying, assessing and managing ESG risk factors

-          Experience in assessing internal and external risk trends, regulatory developments, etc and articulating impact on key deliverables

-          Team player with excellent emotional intelligence, enjoys sharing information, works collaboratively

-          Strong risk culture and reliable professional conduct; demonstrates risk awareness and good conduct behaviours, knowledge of and compliance with internal policies

-          Excellent co-ordination and project management skills demonstrating impactful leadership

-          Adept at forming effective relationships across all levels of seniority inorder to collaborate with, influence and engage key stakeholders

-          Demonstrable ability to deliver compelling, well-structured presentations

-          Writing proficiency – especially for key governance and normative documentation

-          Rigorous, keen attention to detail and proactive

-          Proficient in the use of all Microsoft office applications and proven ability to innovate

-          Excellent command of written and spoken English

-          Enthusiastic for new challenges with a desire to constantly learn and expand knowledge in a changing environment
