Responsibilities

Major Accountabilities/Principal Responsibilities:

Objective:

GLBA (Global Banking and Advisory) is one of the important business lines at Societe Generale group worldwide. In Japan, this business line supports clients through financing activities such as natural resource financing, real estate financing, aviation financing, project financing etc. Expanding GLBA business is an important axis of SG Japan business; hence we are seeking an experienced compliance officer to support this initiative.

Duties:

  • To provide effective and well-balanced compliance advice to business, management and other departments with precise understandings of regulation as well as with professional expertise to ensure sound business promotion.
  • To take care of issues including but not limited to all regulatory and governance related matters.
  • To act as a primary contact of regulators for covering area and coordinate relevant departments to respond to requests from them.
  • To provide professional support to the management for any governance issues. 
  • To take care of inspections and examinations for SG group. 
  • To build strong relationship with relevant stakeholders both internally and externally. 
  • To evaluate and escalate issues to Head of Japan Compliance and regional compliance management as appropriate. 
  • To network with peer firms within the industry and represent SG in cases to express industry opinion instructions as needed. 
  • If and when necessary, work with other compliance teams for effective compliance support for the organization. 

Profile required

Key Skill Areas & Required knowledge: 

  • Extensive experience in compliance advisory for banking business
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise of banking business
  • Strong sense of showing risk reflection
  • Interpersonal skill; strong ability and willingness to work as a team
  • Japanese (native) and English (business level) skill both in verbal and written
  • It’s recommended to hold JSDA ICM and Type I Sales representative certification to have basic understanding about regulations
