Responsibilities

Societe Generale Global Transaction Banking (GTB) includes payment and cash management, cash clearing services, trade services, factoring and foreign exchange services associated to these activities.

GTB integrates all the expertise and services required to facilitate the daily transactional activities of major economic and financial actors both in a domestic and international scope. In SG Brussels the GTB team covers Payments and Cash Management (PCM) and Trade Services (TRA) both strategic activities for Societe Generale. With over 6000 specialists in over 40 countries, GTB represents a major player in banking flows and trade services and we rely on our strong presence in Europe and mature and emerging markets worldwide. We can offer the expertise of a large international banking group and experience spanning over twenty years. As a real local Bank in all the countries where we operate, our global system ensures optimal coordination. We can intervene in cash management and trade services in Europe, Africa, Asia, Americas, Overseas, and in the Middle East.

As part of the GTB Client Service, the Cash Management Client Service Officer will be responsible for supporting the cash management services development with focus on monitoring and ensuring a proper execution of all Cash Management transactions within the local desk. Furthermore the officer is actively implementing new business prospects in close cooperation with the cash management network and other related departments in the Bank.

As Cash Management Client Service Officer you will support the GTB Cash Management team in Country.

You will report to the Head of GTB Client Service in Belgium.

Products and services to be marketed will include, amongst others:

  • Domestic and international means of payment

  • Foreign Exchange (when related to cross-border payments)

  • Electronic Banking products as well as associated services

  • Liquidity Management solutions like cash pooling

  • Domestic and International Guarantees

  • Active cross-selling with the different Business Lines of the Bank especially with the trade services and factoring department of GTB

The role requires a strong client service orientation, operational and process knowledge, knowledge of regulatory and risk processes, analytical and communication skills as well as professional integrity at all times.

He/she will be an effective team player and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop a close relationship with Clients throughout the pre, mid and post implementation stages

  • Support of Cash Management Team in origination and execution of transactions

  • Follow-up on customer requests and needs, and identify new opportunities

  • Close cooperation with Back Office teams in connection with monitoring/handling of client orders and other operational issues

  • Close cooperation with all teams within the Network, as well as with all supporting teams within Paris headquarters

  • Active cooperation with all other local business lines within Brussels branch

  • Active follow up and review of the (new/outstanding/expired) guarantees

  • Create added value for clients pro-actively identifying synergies within the Global Transaction Banking Business lines

  • Risk/compliance: follow up the KYC reviews of the cash management clients and the alerts triggered by transaction filtering

  • Participate in the permanent supervision activities of the GTB desk

  • You will be involved in managing the correspondence with the SG Network

  • You will be involved in reviewing the coherence of limits and outstanding and in the yearly credit reviews for the GTB clients.

  • Being part of the GTB Client Service work on implementing of cash management solutions (Isabel, Swiftnet, Cash Pools, credit facilities,..)

Profile required

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a master’s degree

  • Ideally past experience in Banking, Global Transaction Banking


Language skills:

  • Dutch

  • English

  • French

  • Other foreign language skills would be advantageous

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and superior analytical and quantitative skills

  • In Depth knowledge of cash management products (transactions, electronic banking, pooling, guarantees, ..) minimum three years of proven experience

  • Pro-active team player but also able to work autonomously

  • Time management, organizational and planning skills with proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills for pitching, other languages could be useful for this position.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
