Graduate Trainee – Financing & Advisory
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
Responsibility for financial modelling in support of advisory mandates, including supporting in development of bespoke financial models, conducting detailed scenario and sensitivity analysis, tracking relevant documentation and taking the financial model through audit.
Interrogating the financial model for lending mandates, review and analysis of the financial model to support the preparation of financial analysis, credit applications and due diligence review;
Providing day to day transaction support and managing internal processes relating to our business;
Structuring and pricing of credit applications;
Managing internal processes relating to all arranging and advisory business (e.g. updating databases, memo writing, completing relevant internal system-based processes including all financial data);
Identifying potential marketing opportunities and preparing pitch and presentation materials (including reviewing feasibility studies, detailed analysis of financial models, statements, cashflows, etc.);
Starting to establish a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients;
Staying abreast of developments in the Battery, Mining & Industries sector as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market;
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong commitment to the core values of Societe Generale
Profile required
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required
University degree in a relevant discipline (for e.g., Finance, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law)
Post graduate qualifications considered favourably
No previous work experience necessary, however some previous banking or finance experience would be considered favourably
Strong numerical skills with an advanced understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements and cashflows
Financial modelling skills are a requirement
Strong ability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office generally

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex financial issues
An ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail

Ability to contribute to the team’s efforts to build and maintain trusted client relationships both internal (various
support functions and middle/back office teams) and external (clients, industry bodies, government agencies)
Experience of working (including remotely) with people with diverse, international backgrounds and acting on team priorities

Department Description
We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Trainee to join our Financing & Advisory Group based in Sydney, Australia to support the origination and execution activities across a broad range of structured finance transactions in particular within the Battery, Mining & Industries sector across Australia and New Zealand. The candidate will also work with other business lines within Financing & Advisory such as Infrastructure, Digital, Energy & Renewables and Real Estate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build close relationships with the teams onshore and within the organisation more broadly on a regional and global basis.
