Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:  

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define the strategic direction for the FX & Derivatives sales team.
  • Identify FX and Derivatives business opportunities and prioritize areas for development or strengthening.
  • Determine target clients using these products and assess their associated wallets.
  • Update priorities for developing and marketing the team’s strengths.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with a diverse range of institutions (e.g., leading banks, trust banks, regional banks, insurance companies, asset managers, corporates, securities firms, retail FX aggregators) to stabilize and grow sales credit through higher volumes and diversification.
  • Explore and originate business opportunities across flow and non-flow products (e.g., FXO, QIS) in collaboration with XAS Sales to stabilize revenues.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust the sales team’s structure and client coverage to optimize connectivity, team efficiency, and sales credit per headcount.
  • Maximize the team performance and contribute to the overall success of the business and organization.

Sales Talent & Client Engagement

  • Actively pitch SG’s capabilities, particularly Global Research and Trading products.
  • Recruit new clients, identify their needs, and establish durable, long-term relationships.
  • Focus on both existing and new clients to expand the client base.

Market Intelligence

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the market, client segment needs, and competitor offerings.
  • Provide feedback to management, sales teams, trading teams, and Engineering/Structuring teams to enhance SG’s platform capabilities.

 Reporting & Transparency

  • Regularly report to stakeholders and management, ensuring transparency in coverage activities.
  • Input client and meeting information into internal systems (e.g., IC, CMU tools).
  • Report sensitive incidents or transactions to relevant managers or Business Managers (BMO).

Major Accountabilities/Principal Responsibilities:

Duties:
Sales Strategy & Client Engagement

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for FX and FIC Derivatives products.
  • Communicate with clients daily to share market insights, pitch SG’s capabilities, and enhance product offerings.
  • Achieve individual and team sales credit (SC) targets across FX (Spot, Forward, FX Swap, FX Option. eFX, LTFX etc), FIC Derivatives, and other Global Markets(MARK) products.
  • Foster team spirit and momentum to meet collective targets and objectives.
  • Collaborate with trading, structuring, Financial Institutions Coverage (FIG), GLBA(Global Banking and Advisory) bankers, and support/control functions to expand the business.
  • Support SG’s broader product marketing efforts, including deposit, long-term FX, structured products, and mutual fund distribution.
  • Partner with Structuring (SPS) to originate bespoke client solutions, especially in QIS.
  • Manage all aspects of client onboarding and trading processes. 

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and audit requirements, as well as Societe Generale (SG)’s internal risk limits for JPY and non-JPY rates products.
  • Adhere to SG’s execution standards from pre-trade to post-trade, including:
  • Pre-trade: KYC onboarding, client capacity/product suitability checks, credit checks, legal documentation (e.g., ISDA, CSA, GMRA), and marketing document reviews.
  • Trade confirmation: Execute and record trades per SG’s standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID, DFA), timely booking, and adherence to Sales Credit and Margin Policies.
  • Post-trade: Coordinate settlement instructions, reporting, and valuation processes with middle/back office teams.
  • Properly input deals into IT systems, ensuring accuracy in term sheets and credit processes.
  • Minimize operational risks and errors, aiming for near-zero incidents.

Reporting & Transparency

  • Provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders, including the Head of Asia Pacific FIC Sales, Head of FIC Japan, Head of Global Markets Sales in Japan, and Business Managers.
  • Enter all client and meeting information into internal systems (e.g., IC, CMU tools).
  • Report sensitive incidents or transactions promptly to managers and/or COO.

  • Objective Setting: Set team goals and guide members towards achieving them.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate team members' performance and provide feedback to promote their growth.
  • Work Coordination: Coordinate tasks within the team and optimize resource allocation.
  • Problem Solving: Identify challenges and issues within the team and provide leadership to find solutions.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication within the team and with other departments to ensure smooth information flow.
  • Talent Development: Support the growth of team members' skills and careers by providing necessary training and educational opportunities.
  • Recruiting: Hire new talent and select candidates that fit the needs of the team.
  • Engagement Improvement: Implement initiatives to enhance team members' motivation and improve workplace engagement.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity and work towards creating an inclusive work environment.

Profile required

Key Skill Areas & knowledge Required:

 Client Relationships & Market Knowledge

  • Strong relationships with clients trading flow FX products, including eFX, with proven strategies to increase trading volumes and profitability.
  • Ability to strengthen relationships with new or less engaged clients as a trusted sales leader.
  • Deep understanding of client needs, market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes.

Product Expertise

  • Basic knowledge of a wide range of FIC products, including structured products and QIS.
  • Preferable experience with rates flow derivatives (e.g., IRS, cross-currency swaps) and deposit products beyond FX.

 

Leadership & Team Spirit

  • Build strong relationships within the team and across other departments.
  • Effectively handle pressure from clients, trading, operations, and regulatory authorities with composure.
  • Lead platform development and improvements for the FX business.

Sales & Negotiation Skills

  • Confident in pitching SG’s capabilities and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to recruit new clients and establish durable relationships.

Communication & Reporting

  • Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Ability to clearly summarize business situations, define solutions, and prioritize actions in reports and emails.

Technology & Operations

  • Strong understanding of technology and operations, with leadership experience in building and improving platforms for FX business.

 Language Skills

  • English - Business level
  • Japanese - Native level
