Responsibilities

Bernstein’s Technology team is seeking a motivated and talented Intern Programmers to join our group responsible for developing and maintaining the applications used to support our Research, Sales and Trading teams. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic financial services environment, working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about technology and innovation.

As part of this 10-week rotational program you will:
•    Be fully embedded with one our Product teams to gain practical experience developing and supporting enterprise-grade applications in the financial services sector.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain firsthand insight into how your technology skills partner with and support the business, demonstrating how both work seamlessly together.
•    Receive mentorship from experienced Technology professionals committed to your growth and development.
•    Have the opportunity to contribute ideas and innovations that enhance team performance and application quality.

Profile required

We seek candidates who demonstrate strong academic performance and a genuine enthusiasm for programming and software development. Ideal candidates are proactive learners, eager to contribute fresh perspectives and collaborate effectively within a team. Additionally, a knowledge of or enthusiasm for stocks and financial markets is highly valued, as it will help contextualize the work and drive meaningful contributions to our applications.

Basic Qualifications
•    Currently enrolled in a program in Bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
•    Demonstrated understanding in programming concepts and the software development lifecycle.
•    Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
•    Understanding of databases and SQL.
•    Basic knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
•    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•    Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
•    Will not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Curiosity and a genuine interest in how Technology helps drive the business.
•    Familiarity with web technologies and frameworks is a plus (e.g., React, Angular, .NET).
This role is not eligible for Immigration Visa sponsorship.
This role will be on-site 5 days a week in our New York offices.
Salary Range $80,000
