Investment Banking Associate - Private Equity & Fund Finance Portfolio Management
Responsibilities
Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines wholesale coverage with world-class product financing and advisory expertise within one team. Within GLBA, the Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) team is looking to hire an Associate within the Financial Assets and Insurance (“FAI”) vertical. GLBA includes the following business line:
- Investment Banking Division (IBD)
- Advisory & Financing Group (AFG)
- Coverage (COV)
- Credit & Structured Finance (CSF)
- Natural Resources & Infrastructure (NAT)
- Distribution and Credit Structuring (DCS)
- Credit Portfolio Management (CPM)
CPM Overview: We manage the assets held across GLBA. CPM has three verticals: (i) corporates (investment grade and non-investment grade), (ii) real assets (real estate, energy, infrastructure, etc) and (iii) Financial Assets and Insurance (capital call facilities, middle market lending, etc.). CPM actively manages the portfolio of GLBA to maximize profitability and contribute to investment banking idea generation across M&A, ECM and Leveraged Finance for new transactions. We approve all transactions that enter the portfolio and actively work with investors to support the distribution of the portfolio across asset classes.
The Associate will work within the FAI vertical in CPM to support the Portfolio Managers with new deal analysis, portfolio management and portfolio distribution strategic initiatives and strategies.
In the particular the Associate within the FAI vertical in CPM will be covering Private Equity Fund of Fund (“PEF”), Net Asset Value lending (“NAV”) and Capital Call Financing (“CCF”) transactions and will be in charge of portfolio monitoring and ongoing analysis of the aforementioned transactions. In addition to the usual responsibilities expected of an Associate, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:
- For new transactions, attend Pre-Screening committees and CBA committees where early stage transactions are presented for agreement to proceed, prepare CPM opinion reviewing the credit risk, regulatory capital treatment, profitability, liquidity analysis of the transaction.
- Manage and assume ownership of covered portfolio, including main portfolio KPIs (such as commitments, RWA, LGDs, ORR and ECL).
- Prepare and present quarterly and annual review of the transaction and the portfolio.
- Engage with management teams on diligence requests and lender questions.
- Prepare and present memos for credit agreement amendments.
- Coordinating with internal partners on transactions within CPM and within coverage, structuring, distribution and the Credit Risk department, in particular for secondary distribution via sales, insurance and SRT solution.
Profile required
REQUIRED:
- Experience of fund finance, private equity or private debt financing.
- Knowledge of corporate finance valuation and financial accounting concepts
- Formal credit training and experience conducting credit analysis
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated work ethic, positive attitude, attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- SIE, Series 7/79 and Series 63 certifications. If not already obtained, must complete within six months of hire
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 years of Investment Banking experience
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors Degree from a top-tier university (preferably in Economics, Accounting, or Finance), Master or CFA optional

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.
