IT Trainee

• This trainee role is suited to a candidate with educational background in technology / financing.
• The candidate will participate to provide multiple technology centric services in the client facing team offering access to Japan exchanges, providing added values and solutions by leveraging the best-in-class technology and infrastructure services.
• Working in a fast-paced cash equity and listed derivatives technology team in Tokyo, you will focus on supporting clients’ trading activities equipped with the cutting-edge technologies.
• The successful candidate will work alongside a high-calibre team at one of the world’s largest and innovative investment banks.
• This role will play essential part of client onboarding for Japan markets, and you will gain knowledge of trading and market activities.

Major Accountabilities 

• Assist with filing, applying, and tracking exchange related application forms and requests
• Being involved in testing and documenting procedures 
• Monitoring / troubleshooting trading activities
• Document and follow-up on incidents
• Communicate with internal team members and vendors to facilitate requests
• Being involved in data center and exchange colocation management
• Assist with client on-boarding
• Update static data repository
• Assist with technology related purchases incl. PO creation
• Proactively troubleshoot and follow-up on remediations until solutions are in place
• Automate process as much as possible using scripts, macros and other programming languages etc.

Skills and competencies 

• Business analysis skills (e.g. able to understand exchange offering / clearing / market updates) 
• Strong desire to learn new protocols / technologies / business processes through job
• Strictly follow local compliance and regulatory requirements
• Escalate concerns, inconsistency, mistakes with no hesitation
• Service our client to ensure all operational requirements are met to a high standard
• Be responsible and take a lead in designated tasks, develop workflow and processes
• Risk assessed mindset and identify potential risks in technology used in the bank and implement new ways of doing things or remediations as required in response to the client and business needs
• Provide support to team management and members, understand the bank’s strategies to promote the group values and work with different stakeholders 
• Willing to learn exchange API specification and protocol
• Willing to learn FIX trading protocol
• Willing to learn networking to access markets
• Understanding of the software management and tools to support
• UNIX skills with ability to analyze/parse log files using utilities is a plus
• Understanding of database querying languages such as SQLite/MySQL/Postgre.is a plus

 Qualification 

• Ability to communicate in both Japanese and English fluently
• Basic understanding in networking, programming or other technology fields
