Responsibilities

Mission: 

Societe Generale Global Transaction Banking (GTB) includes payment and cash management, cash clearing services, trade services, factoring and foreign exchange services associated to these activities.

GTB integrates all the expertise and services required to facilitate the daily transactional activities of major economic and financial actors both in a domestic and international scope.

The responsiveness and dynamism of our teams, their accurate knowledge of market trends and regulations, the strength of our networks and our diverse range of products allow us to optimize the daily management of the cash flow, the commercial and financial transactions for our Corporate clients and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI).

Within the GTB framework, the GTB Junior Sales contributes to the delivery of the global financial trajectory by:

  • Supporting senior sales (either GTB or specialist) on commercial activities

  • Being the day-to-day GTB client entry point for all commercial topics

  • Having direct client commercial objectives

Products and services to be marketed will include, amongst others:

  • Domestic and international means of payment

  • Foreign Exchange (when related to cross-border payments)

  • Electronic Banking products as well as associated services

  • Liquidity Management solutions

  • Trade finance services

  • Working Capital Solutions

The GTB Junior Sales reports to the Head of Specialist and Junior Sales. The GTB Junior Sales has a good knowledge of one or more GTB products for corporates (PCM, TRA, SGF), has the capacity to understand clients’ needs and the related commercial and operational implications addressing to other desk’s colleagues specific or more complex requests (commercial and non-commercial).

The role requires a strong client service orientation, interest for commercial steering and understanding of risk processes. A good analytical and communication skills as well as professional integrity at all times are requires.

Tasks and responsibilities:

The GTB Junior Sales main responsibilities are:

Commercial:

  • Supports Senior Sales on commercial activity development: pitch preparation, client meetings, credit file preparation, local RFP analysis and answer, business feasibility analysis, follow-up actions

  • Identifies, from his/her interaction with the client, sales potential and directly manage simple client business upside request

  • Ensures data quality of commercial activity

  • Prepares, in collaboration with other Sales team and Client Service, local portfolio review (including client commercial action plan), GTPS annual relationship reviews, business committee preparation and annual price reviews

  • Be proactive in the local deployment of specific commercial campaign and Business lines pushes

  • Realize specific commercial analysis (client profitability, client product equipment, etc.) – in collaboration with other desk’s actors (eg. Clients Service Unit review)

  • Ensures and oversees timely response of client inquiries

  • Directly manages his/ her portfolio of clients, build and deliver the GTB commercial plan for his/her portfolio of clients

Operational:

  • Day-to-day GTB client entry point for Front-End related matters (commercial, credit or equipment) and client request transfer to Client Service Unit for non-commercial topics potentially raised by client to sales

  • Handles credit documentation and keeps related systems up-to-date or asks support from Coverage, Credit Risk and Servicing teams

  • Follows-up on contract negotiation

  • In coordination with Client Service Unit: coordinate the onboarding and run of most complex & strategic GTB clients and support local booking operations

  • Ensures Risk appetite framework is complied with on his/her scope, including the contribution of the desk to the respect of GTPS Risk appetite statement notably country limits and sectorial limits

Profile required

Studies & experience:

  • Master’s degree

  • 2-3 years of experience in Commercial banking or in Cash Management, Trade Finance, Working capital area

Language skills:

  • English: C1

  • French and/or German – Nice to have

  • Additional languages would also be advantageous

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and superior analytical and quantitative skills

  • Expertise in one or more GTB products for corporates and NBFI

  • Good knowledge of GTB bank processes and products implications

  • Good listening skills and capacity to understand clients needs / identify business opportunities

  • Good interpersonal and client relationship skills

  • Good team member

  • Commercial and performance drive

  • Ethics and risk culture

  • Results oriented

  • Proactivity, precision, accuracy

  • Time management, organizational and planning skills with proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills for pitching, other languages could be useful for this position

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders

  • Comfortable and confident to speak / present to clients and also SG senior management
