Mission: 

The KYC Analyst will be part of the SG Zürich Branch KYC Team covering all business lines of the Swiss branch of Société Générale Paris. SG Zürich Branch (Corporate Investment Bank) provides innovative financial solutions, advisory services and capital market products serving the needs of its corporate, institutional and private clients. Present in Switzerland since 1927, SG Zurich Branch offers local and cross-border expertise providing a full range of financial services to its clients with a particular focus on financial markets, securities, services to foreign funds, trade finance, and cash management services.

As part of the German-speaking KYC hub based in Zurich, the KYC Analyst will be in charge of the periodic KYC reviews of a diverse portfolio of existing clients from all business lines of the Swiss branch of Société Générale Paris. The KYC Analyst will join the review team on a 6-month contract basis in order to support with the assigned portfolio of reviews. The position requires a natural interest and curiosity to learn about financial markets and banking activities and the ability to reprioritize tasks in order to enhance our service to the client and internal stakeholders. Candidates must be able to focus in high pressure situations, and be self-motivated to develop themselves through proactive engagement within the team and across business units.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely completion of monthly KYC reviews including due diligence controls, risk assessments, documentary analysis, and screening for sanctions, negative news and PEP’s
  • Updating client profiles via internal referential systems to ensure accurate record keeping
  • Providing regular advice and support to key stakeholders across all Business Units and Compliance to ensure the smooth functioning of KYC processes
  •  Independently performing comprehensive due diligence controls and risk assessments to a high standard in order to formalize the KYC reviews of an assigned portfolio of existing corporate and investment banking clients
  •  Performing extensive risk assessments and thorough documentary analysis with a focus on the presence of potential reputational, PEP and sanctions-related risks, as well as the analysis of the purpose of the client relationship
  • Completing due diligence controls in relation to the identification and reputation of clients including associated parties (directors, shareholders, beneficial owners) using internal, public and paid sources
  • Identifying and appropriately escalating any identified issues (e.g. documentation or ABC concerns), to ensure the bank remains vigilant in the fight against money laundering, and adheres to its regulatory obligations
  • Facilitating the periodic KYC review of existing clients by respecting applicable global policies and guidelines, as well as all associated local, tax, or other regulatory requirements
  • Validating and updating the client profile in the corresponding referential systems to reflect the KYC assessment an ensure accurate record keeping and relationship management
  • Providing regular advice and support to key stakeholders across all Business Units and Compliance to ensure the smooth functioning of KYC processes
  • Providing support to the KYC team by assisting in case of shifting priorities
  • Proactively identifying issues and developing new ideas as well as proactively participating in the regular team meetings to help improve the efficiency and innovative abilities of the team

Profile required

Studies & experience:

  • University or business school (“FH”) graduate, with a degree qualifying you to work in the financial sector, majoring in finance, economics, law or international relations. Graduate degrees are considered a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a related function (KYC, AML, Audit or Compliance), preferably in a corporate banking environment
  • Experience completing due diligence on a wide range of entity types (limited companies, large corporates, trusts, foundations, funds, banks and financial institutions etc)
  • Good understanding of applicable tax and regulatory requirements (such as FATCA, CRS, CDB, FinSA and FinIA etc)

Language skills:

  • English: C1
  • German or French are considered a plus

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Good IT knowledge (Outlook, Excel, MS Office)
  • Previous experience with negative news, PEP and sanctions screening tools
  • First-hand professional experience of the European and Swiss financial regulatory environment (AML, PEP, tax), however, international experience is considered a plus and may justify basic knowledge of the local regulations
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, and willingness to develop these on the job
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (sense of service and flexibility that are expected in support functions), and motivation to improve these with experience
  • Excellent time management and ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent ability to self-study and to learn under pressure
  • Ability to identify and accommodate shifting priorities with little notice
  • Responsible and committed, with excellent attention to details
  • Proactivity in the identification of issues and the development of new ideas
  • Behavior in line with the SG leadership Model: commitment, innovation, responsibility, and team spirit
