Responsibilities

Role description

The position is available with Securities - Prime brokerage operations team, the reporting line is to delivery manager as first line of management and further supervision to a Function head

The Corporate Actions Expert is responsible for end-to-end processing and oversight of corporate action events within a Prime Brokerage environment, with a strong focus on DTC-eligible securities. The role requires deep expertise across Income, Mandatory, and Voluntary events, ensuring accurate client entitlements, timely elections, and risk mitigation.

The main responsibility is to be able to deliver 100% quality production by way of Monitoring and Completion of activities and tasks related to processing of trade life cycle functions in SEC operations. This position also requires handling of supplementary responsibilities like SOP review, cross trainings, PDP’s, completions of checklists and EOD controls, etc. Demonstrate adaptability and agility towards process needs by being flexible in terms of shifts and working hours.  In addition, staff is also expected to work on projects and process improvements which will lead to better efficiency, controls and client delight. 

Profile required

Key Responsibilities

1. Corporate Actions Processing

Manage end-to-end lifecycle of corporate actions across:

Income Events (Dividends, Interest, Manufactured Income)

Mandatory Events (Stock Splits, Mergers, Spin-offs, Redemptions)

Voluntary Events (Tender Offers, Rights Issues, Conversions)

Interpret event details from custodians, DTC notices, and issuer communications.

Ensure accurate event setup, validation, and booking in internal systems.

2. DTC Market Expertise

Process and reconcile corporate actions via Depository Trust Company (DTC).

Handle DTC-specific functions:

CA Web instructions

Election submissions and deadlines

Allocation and entitlement tracking

Liaise with DTC, custodians, and counterparties to resolve discrepancies.

3. Prime Brokerage Support

Support hedge fund and institutional clients with:

Event notifications and options

Election management and confirmations

Manage client positions, short positions, and borrow/loan impacts on entitlements.

Process manufactured payments for securities lending and short positions.

4. Reconciliation & Controls

Perform daily reconciliation of:

Positions vs entitlements

Cash and stock movements

Investigate and resolve breaks, fails, and discrepancies.

Ensure adherence to SLA timelines and regulatory requirements.

5. Risk & Exception Management

Identify and mitigate risks related to:

Missed elections

Incorrect entitlements

Market deadlines

Escalate high-risk items and implement preventive controls.

Maintain audit trails and documentation.

6. Stakeholder Communication

Coordinate with:

Custodians

Brokers

Internal teams (Trading, Operations, Risk)

Provide timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience

5–10 years in Corporate Actions (preferably Prime Brokerage).

Strong exposure to DTC market and US securities.

Technical Knowledge

In-depth understanding of:

Income, Mandatory & Voluntary events

Securities lifecycle and entitlements

Prime Brokerage operations

Familiarity with tools like:

DTC CA Web

SWIFT messages (MT564/565/566)

Custodian platforms

Core Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Attention to detail and deadline management

Risk awareness and control mindset

Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in securities lending / stock borrow & loan

Knowledge of tax implications on income events

Exposure to automation tools (Excel, VBA, Python)

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Zero missed elections / deadlines

High accuracy in entitlement processing

Timely reconciliation and break resolution

Client satisfaction and SLA adherence
