Senior Auditor - Risk Specialist
Responsibilities
The Senior Auditor – Risk Specialist, Vice President in the Market Activities (MARK) Audit Team is expected to make key contributions to Audit’s regular assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of SG’s Risk management program across the first and second lines of defense.
This position is expected to play a leadership role in the coverage of Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk, as well as contribute to Structural Risk Coverage (Liquidity and Interest Rate on the Banking Book).
While the Senior Auditor is expected to act a subject matter expert in these areas, the position will also be part of the broader pool of auditors acting across the scope.
The Senior Auditor’s primary responsibility is to lead and contribute to audit assignments. The candidate is expected to have a degree of technical proficiency, autonomy, and the ability to oversee and monitor the work of their team. The candidate should be able to run larger and complex audits with minimal supervision or oversight. Some responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Independently, leading various types of audit missions (including complex, global, multi-team/integrated, etc.,) overseeing all aspects of the audit process and having full ownership of the audits assigned
- Preparing high quality and impactful audit reports, especially executive summaries that effectively address the key issues to be raised to management’s attention.
- Actively participating in department’s continuous monitoring programs - understands the ongoing changes in internal and external environment related to specific audited activities and evaluates the impact of changes on the business and company.
- Participating in various stages of the annual risk assessment and providing professional conclusions on the risks' evaluation
- Coaching the staff to help develop their competencies and provide formal feedback to team members that is objective, constructive and meaningful.
- Leading and participating in department wide transformation projects and actively contributing, communicating, and implementing the changes, and supporting others through the process
Profile required
DIVISION DESCRIPTION:
The Audit Division (IGAD) represents Societe Generale's independent internal audit function, comprised of over 1,200 professionals covering Societe Generale's global business and services in over 150 countries. The SGUS Audit Department (SGIAA) within IGAD is a group of about 70 professionals with diverse backgrounds and subject matter expertise based in the US, Bangalore, and Brazil, responsible for Societe Generale's businesses in the Americas region. Constituting the third line of defense, IGAD conducts independent audits of operational entities in an objective, thorough and impartial manner in line with professional standards. IGAD assesses the compliance of the Group's operations, the effective level of risk exposure and management, the adequate enforcement of procedures and the effectiveness and relevance of the permanent control set-up.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have an understanding and knowledge of Market, Counterparty and/or Structural Risk, and a willingness for self-development across the stripes.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of banking products, financial services, and industry, including the different trading products and activities, and the related risks (market, counterparty credit, liquidity, operational, regulatory, etc.) and controls.
- Ability to use these skills to plan or execute audits using a risk-based approach (e.g., identify key risks, control points, and suggest approaches for testing/sampling)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or on a quantitative field like Engineering or Mathematics
- Understanding of relevant US regulatory expectations and rules including prudential rules such as Reg YY, SR 10-6, SR 11-10, SR 12-2, Market Risk Rule, or those from other regulators of comparable.

COMPENSATION & SALARY RANGE:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, Medical/Dental/Vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
