Responsibilities

 As a Senior Member of the HPC team, the successful candidate will:

  • Identify and frame CCR risk arising from activities with funds and CCPs.
  • Contribute to local and global projects to enhance risk metrics, monitoring tools and procedures in regards of activities with Funds and 
  • Be the main expert within RISQ/RMA regarding Prime business and CCR overall.
  • Assume a leadership role within the team.

Mission details

Funds and CCPs Credit Risk Cycle

  • Review First Line Of Defense (1LOD) counterparty credit risk assessment, formulate recommendations  and approve limits within Delegated Authority.
  • Lead due-diligence of hedge fund clients in the portfolio and propose credit ratings and write annual review memos.
  • Ongoing monitoring of client portfolio: Limit Overshoots, Market News, Early Warning Indicators, Credit Events.
  • Challenge margining levels proposed by 1LOD.
  • Ramp-up knowledge of CCP risk (secondary mission): review CCP rule books, participate to CCPs consultations and industry forums.

Counterparty Credit Risk Management

  • Contribute to various local and global CCR instances.
  • Provide opinion to the New Product Committee.
  • Contribute to local and global projects to enhance risk metrics, monitoring tools and procedures.
  • Hands-on client portfolio deep-dives: assess tail market risk from a given client strategy, identify blind spots in existing risk monitoring.
  • Routinely review portfolio margining requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Interact on a regular basis with Senior Management within the Risk Department and Business Lines.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other teams within the Market Risk Department.
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Coordinate the team’s handling of BAU tasks and projects.
  • Groom Junior Members of the team.

Profile required

Specific skills

  • Solid experience in managing counterparty credit risk.
  • First hand knowledge of the Prime Brokerage and Clearing business.
  • Proven track record in engaging with senior stakeholders and in communicating clearly to a wide audience.
  • Recognized leadership skills in an international environment.
  • Solid knowledge in finance and market risks, covering OTC and listed products
  • Familiarity with the relevant regulatory environment.

Required education and experience

  • Post graduate degree in finance, economics, or mathematics
  • At least 10 years experience in financial markets, in a Front Office or Risk position

Department Description

Within SG market risk department (“RISQ/RMA”), “HPC” is the Second Line Of Defense (2LOD) team in charge of mitigating the Counterparty Credit Risk (“CCR”) from the group’s business with Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds and Central Clearinghouses (“CCP”s). In addition, HPC is instrumental in the enhancement of Counterparty Credit Risk management practices across all client types.Like all departments within RISQ division, it adheres to the philosophy of complete independence from commercial activities. It is a control function, not a support function to the business.

Scope

The team’s coverage includes:

  • Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds, CCPs domiciliated in Asia.
  • Global Banking and Investor Solutions (“GBIS”) transactions that are originated in Asia and the risks of which are managed and monitored in Asia.
  • Cash, Derivatives and Prime business.
  • All Asset Classes across Equities and FICC.
