Responsibilities

As a Director in Interest Rate Sales at Societe Generale, you will be a key player on the trading floor, delivering value-driven solutions to institutional clients and contributing to the growth of our global Rates business with a focus on the US.. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills. Responsibilities will include:

Client Engagement

·        Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse client base, including asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and other institutional investors, while enhancing the broader partnership between Societe Generale and its clients.

·        Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique objectives and tailoring interest rate solutions to meet risk management needs.

·        Maintain day to day active trading dialogue with clients to enhance the delivery and execution of liquid rates.

·        Onboard clients by managing the full lifecycle of the onboarding process, including completing KYC requirements, negotiating documentation such as ISDAs and CSAs, and addressing considerations related to XVA and other relevant regulatory and operational requirements. Collaborate closely with compliance, legal, and risk teams to ensure all processes are efficient and adhere to the highest standards.

Market and Product Expertise

·        Provide expert-level analysis and insights into U.S. Treasury securities, interest rate swaps, swaptions, and a broad spectrum of fixed-income derivatives. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the pricing, risk profiles, and market drivers of these instruments, ensuring coverage across the full breadth of interest rate products.

·        Conduct in-depth analysis of macroeconomic developments, monetary policy decisions, and market trends, effectively translating these insights into actionable strategies for clients. Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal stakeholders, fostering an ongoing dialogue to deliver timely and impactful advice.

Trade Execution

·        Collaborate closely with trading teams to ensure precise and efficient execution of client orders, maintaining rigorous standards for accuracy, compliance, and financial outcomes. This includes actively coordinating with the trading desk to navigate real-time market conditions and considerations.

·        Manage the comprehensive sales lifecycle, encompassing pre-trade preparation, pricing strategy, real-time negotiation, and detailed post-trade analysis. Ensure seamless communication and integration across all stages to provide a superior client experience while meeting regulatory and risk management requirements.

Strategy Development and Revenue Generation

·        Develop and present creative trade strategies and solutions that leverage deep expertise in the interest rate markets, with a focus on aligning ideas to client objectives and prevailing market dynamics.

·        Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding the firm's client base and driving sustainable revenue growth through innovative and tailored offerings.

Team Collaboration and Leadership

·        Work collaboratively with internal teams, including sales partners, trading, research, and risk management, to deliver cohesive, cross-functional solutions.

·        Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within the sales desk.

Risk Management and Compliance

·        Uphold the firm’s risk and compliance standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical practices.

·        Monitor and mitigate potential risks in sales activities while maintaining the highest standards of transparency and professionalism.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

·        Stay at the forefront of industry developments, leveraging technology and data to refine strategies and enhance client outcomes.

·        Continuously seek opportunities to innovate and improve processes, driving operational efficiency and strategic impact.

Profile required

Division Description:

Within Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking, the Global Markets Division brings together the Research, Investment and Risk Management Solutions, Execution and Clearing, Prime Services, Equities, Fixed Income, Futures and Currencies & Commodities structuring capabilities with the objective of providing investors with one integrated multi-asset market solutions team. The business uses an advisory and innovation mindset, focused on client needs, with a global leader in financial markets engineering. Global Markets is a leading player in derivatives, with unrivaled over the counter and listed derivatives expertise, as well as cross-asset and economic research.  Our prime services' offering is a unique combination of execution, clearing, custody and financing services.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Must Have:

·        Deep expertise in the US Rates market and associated products, including but not limited to US Treasuries, TIPS, Interest Rate Swaps (STIRT, Basis), and Interest Rate Options (Swaptions, Caps/Floors, CMS products, and other related derivatives). Proven ability to apply this knowledge to develop and execute tailored client solutions.

·        Demonstrated ability to model complex trades, assess and mitigate associated risks, and identify potential challenges or inefficiencies. Proficiency in utilizing advanced tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, and other financial software to conduct detailed analysis and support decision-making is highly preferred.

·        Minimum of 6 years of experience in a client-facing sales role with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing and growing a portfolio of institutional clients.

·        Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or another technical discipline that supports strong analytical and quantitative skills.

·        Fluent in English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and persuasive client engagement and internal collaboration.


Nice to Have:

·        Relationships with Real Money clients including Asset Managers, Banks, and Insurance Companies.  Asset managers including the Boston and West Coast communities are especially helpful.

·        Demonstrated expertise in conducting trade analysis and structuring complex transactions. Proficiency in creating advanced Excel models is preferred, and strong capabilities in programming languages such as VBA or Python are highly advantageous.

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
