Responsibilities

  • As an experienced SME professional, you are responsible in carrying out the daily Japanese equity operation (e.g. clearing, settlement, custody) for our business and clients.
  • Day-to-day settlement process of Japanese equities for equity financing trading (stock lending and borrowing), agency and prop trading (cash equity).
  • Handling of Trade Capture, Clearing, Settlement, Payment, Accounting, Reporting, Custody/Safekeeping, Reconciliation, Margin call, Tax etc.
  • As a EQD BO settlement team member, be responsible to ensure a smooth and stable daily settlement operation working closely with FO/MO.  Ensure all trades have been matched and settled and escalate any issue and complete resolution in a timely manner.
  • Detect/investigate issues and follow up/analyze/escalate for solutions & improvements working with relevant internal teams (FO/MO/BO/IT) and external parties (Venders, Affiliates, Clients, Central Securities Depository, Regulators) 
  • Be familiar with all necessary risk and controls framework under the scope of EQD BO and proactively review risky area/processes where we need to strengthen the processes itself or the corresponding control framework (e.g. order ticket process, fail trade monitoring) 
  • Participating in Market events/industry-wide projects, New Business initiatives, and Continuous Improvement efforts.

Profile required

Key Skill Areas & knowledge Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in working in Operations with hands-on experience in cash equity settlement (cash equity, stock lending & borrowing, affiliate clearing/custody business, margin trading, corporate action) with relevant experience in JASDEC matching, JSCC clearing and exposure to Japanese BO systems.
  • Solid experience in supporting Japanese sensitive clients. Able to Listen to clients/internal partners and colleagues to understand and anticipate their needs
  • Teamwork / Self-starter / Accuracy / Swiftness / Flexibility / Attention to detail
  • Analytical/logical thinking to investigate issues and propose solutions/improvements.
  • Good communication skills - Proficient in both Japanese and English 
  • Ability to navigate effectively in global organization (working with other teams, countries, regions)
  • Basic IT Skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint), able to formulate functional specifications for Technology department with Business analysis skill.
