Responsibilities

ABOUT THE JOB: 
The aim of Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) Canada is to deliver day-to-day services to Société Générale investment and corporate bank units and their clients to accelerate their transformation. GBTO differentiates itself from competitors with the pace of the agile transformation delivered, spreading the technology and data culture, shortening the decision-making process, and adopting a true industrial approach, leveraging on different teams either transversal or aligned to the different sub business units.

The Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) team belongs to the XRM (Cross Risk Metrics) department that aims at supporting and developing tools primarily for the risk department (RISQ). You will join the CCR AMER feature team in charge of several applications including the Outstanding Watch List (OWL) application. This application is a crucial post-origination portfolio monitoring tool shared by 1LOD and 2LOD, used to digitize key forms & decisions, automate manual processes & permanent controls, create a clean audit trail, generate real-time reporting, and improve data quality. Within the CCR AMER feature team there are three developers dedicated to the OWL application; and the team is split across two locations with 6 people in Montreal and 3 in NY.

  • To build a solid and trustful relationship with our functional partners thanks to a continuous and transparent communication. 
  • To maintain a strong team dynamic that focuses on the delivery of value for the users and maintaining the application with a long-term view.

Autonomous on your developments, you will always have the support of the team to continuously improve functionally and technically. You will be encouraged to also share your point of view and approaches in software craftmanship. Continuous improvement is key for us!

YOUR MISSION

  • Functional improvements
    • Digitalize material forms used within the business lines and risk departments.
    • Automate current manual processes to improve efficiency amongst the business lines and risk departments.
  • Transform our existing application (OWL) into a global product.
    • Restructure the UI and backend application to a more robust code design
    • Enrich tests and monitoring (using IS Principles)
    • Scale to support x10 more users.

DevOps:

  • Actively contribute to the migration of the application and related services to Microsoft Azure, ensuring seamless transition
  • Automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and CI/CD frameworks.
  • Maintain and upgrade our cloud infrastructure
  • Manage software upgrades, patching, and configuration changes in cloud and container environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Production: Participate in L3 support and incident management, including root cause analysis and resolution.

    WHAT WILL BE YOUR DAY-TO-DAY? 
    How you will contribute to the day-to-day activities of the team: 
  • Interact with stakeholders to decompose customer requests into detailed stories and develop code using Software Craftsmanship best practices across diverse technology ecosystems.
  • Deliver working code meeting acceptance criteria and the definition of done, while ensuring product quality and consistency through testing, deployment, and production activities
  • Document technical design and specifications, maintain test cases, and support inquiries, issues, and major events to identify root cause and resolution
  • Manage release processes, including drafting release notes, developing release scripts, and leading deployments with contingency and rollback plans.
  • Maintain C/c team specific modules, transform legacy systems, and contribute to software craftsmanship and Agile framework implementation.
     

Profile required

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. 
  2. Ability to Code, test, document and L3 support the application. 
  3. Strong hands-on experience with C#, .Net 8 and Bootstrap 5.
  4. Strong hands-on experience with data handling (Entity Framework).
  5. Angular 14+.
  6. MS SQL, Kubernetes, Docker.
  7. Cloud skills (Azure, security, infrastructure, architecture design, design patterns…).
  8. Experience with Unix, Linux OS
  9. Agile methodology (scrum).
  10. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  11. Ability to analyze and provide / receive constructive feedback.

Nice to Have:

  • ITIL Certification
  • Azure Cloud certification
     

LANGUAGE: 

Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
