Trade Finance Back Office
Responsibilities
- To assist the Manager/Head of Back Office to manage, supervise input or approve the department daily trade operations, ensuring that customers’ trade transactions are performed in a timely and accurate manner, within service level agreement, in accordance with regulatory requirements, guidelines and bank’s procedures.
- To assist the Manager/Head of Back Office to manage, supervise input or approve the department daily trade operations, ensuring that customers’ trade transactions are performed in a timely and accurate manner, within service level agreement, in accordance with regulatory requirements, guidelines and bank’s procedures.
- Manage and approve day to day trade operations transactions covering both imports and export LC transaction including Back-to-Back LCs, Transfer LCs, Banker’s Guarantee, Collateral Management and Forfaiting. in accordance with UCP/URC/ISBP/URC/URR/ISP rules and bank’s procedures.
- Assist manager and/or Head of Back Office to ensure that the Bank’s policies, guidelines, control, regulatory, AML and compliance requirements are strictly adhered to.
- Review and ensure SOPs are timely updated and staff comply with procedures
- Ensure that areas of non-compliance if any highlighted by auditors and compliance officers are followed up promptly and staff are briefed accordingly to prevent recurrence
- Provide training to staff, business units and customers as/or when necessary,
- Review and ensure operational problems, complaints and queries are resolved promptly and satisfactory
- Review new products and requirements with Business Units and set up procedures accordingly to ensure such delivery to customers
- Assist the Manager/Head of Back Office on human resource planning, development and staff management, Sits In, Process Improvements and daily huddle.
- Contribute to various process improvement and other projects as allocated.
Profile required
Academic Background and Certifications, Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Commodity Trade Finance.
- Reasonably sound knowledge on application of: -
o UCP 600. ISBP, URC 522, URR 725, ISP 98, URDG 758 and forfaiting.
o Proficient with SWIFT formats - Past experience on projects linked to process review and /or with various project team to contribute towards operational requirements, testing and Change management.
Operational Skills
- Reasonably sound knowledge on application of: -
o UCP 600, ISBP, URC 522, URR 725, ISP 98, URDG 758 and forfaiting
o Knowledge of HKMA/MAS/ABS guidelines and experience in areas of commodity financing
o Proficient with SWIFT formats
o Experience in end-to-end trade knowledge. - Able to work independently on projects linked to process improvements and for IT projects, should be able to share Operational requirements and be able to contribute to UAT and related Change management.
- Good experience on structured trade and ability to contribute to complex structures and be able to handle trouble shooting/problem solving.
- Ability to identify and provide operational solution to potential bottleneck in document process operation.
- React positively to coaching by Head of Dept to achieve the next level of higher responsibility as internal controller.
- Able to make practical, reasonable decisions in absence of detailed instructions.
