TRAINEE: Asset Liability Management Analyst

The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Societe Generale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.
Main Areas managed by the team:
- ALCO: preparation and animation of the Asia ALCO which oversees the steering of the region’s balance sheet, capital and structural risks
- Structural risk liquidity/IR/FX: monitoring and analyzing the liquidity gaps (BAU, stressed) and banking book IRR sensitivities and FX exposures against thresholds/limit
- Balance sheet : monitoring, analyzing and steering the Asia’s balance sheet across business lines,
- Capital management: monitoring and analyzing the capital structure of Asian legal entities and optimizing their replacements; leading the preparation of capital injection requests to support business development needs
- Financial and RWA steering: RWA and capital forecasting for the strategic planning and financial budget
- Norms: acquire a deep understanding on Group policies / guidelines and regulatory norms relevant to ALM metrics and transposing them to Asian entities where applicable
- Projects: steer or contribute to projects related to any of the related ALM and funding subjects (e.g. support new business initiatives)
Responsibilities
Analysis
- Prepare ALM dashboards and conduct detailed trend and variation analysis on ALM metrics (balance sheet, funding gaps, stressed liquidity gaps and IRRBB NPV sensitivity) of all Asian entities. Work with relevant business owners to understand the consumption and link with the business drivers.
- Perform simulation and impact analysis on models related to structural risk metrics
- Conduct simulation on structural risk metrics for new business initiatives
Digitalization/Projects
- Automation and enhancement of ALM operations within the team and region (regular dashboard, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis)
- Contribute to Asia IRRBB project to overhaul the feeding and reporting chain.
Profile required
- Bachelors or Masters from a competitive university (local or international), ideally with a major in Finance or Engineering
- Strong demonstrated interest in the relevant field - quantitative finance / risk management – esp. liquidity and market risk / investment banking activities, in particular global markets / corporate finance & accounting / macro-micro economics etc
- Self-automation capacity - Programming skills, including experience on automation and data science is a plus
- Expertise on derivatives valuation (fixed income and equity underlying) is a plus
- Ability to work under pressure managing multiple stakeholders, strong team player who understand the value of collaboration, strong logical thinking skills and adept on communication (written and oral)
- Fluent English is mandatory

Department Description
The Asia ALM team in the Finance department, is a team of experts based in Hong Kong, responsible for monitoring and analyzing Asia’s balance sheet, structural risks (liquidity, IRRBB & FX), capital, and risk-weighted assets (RWA). We lead various studies to drive vital management’s decision-making and steering of these metrics.
The team has a regional capacity, overseeing more than 10 legal entities across Asia Pacific and works closely with Local entity and CFOs, Asia Treasury, Risk department, business lines and our Head Office to support the effective management of all ALM topics in each location and ensure an alignment of practices across the region.
