TRAINEE: Financing & Advisory
Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting a Trainee to join our Financing & Advisory (F&A) group in Hong Kong on a full-time fixed term basis for 24 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team to obtain hands-on experience within a fast-paced, results focused, global organization that values diversity. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the origination, structuring and execution of a broad range of structured finance and advisory transactions in the Asian markets and for our Asian clients' projects globally.
The team has an active deal flow and the successful candidate will be working in a leading global franchise on the execution of financings and debt advisories for our Asian clients. Your main missions will be the following:
Transaction support to the relevant deal team leader on arranging and debt advisory mandates, including:
- Financial modeling and analysis of financial projections
- Review of various documentation, including information memorandum and finance documents
- Review of various due diligence reports
- Assist in preparation of credit applications and other internal approval requests
- Research on companies, market and industry trends
Client related support, including
- Prepare presentations and pitches for clients
- General research
- Respect and adhere to compliance practices and other internal requirements
- Assist in reporting tools
- Stay abreast of developments in SG's Financing & Advisory sectors as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market.
Candidates with outstanding performance may be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.

The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Société Générale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.
Profile required
- Hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Legal, Engineering or similar degree
- Good knowledge of accounting and finance and/or legal, e.g. proof of some professional exams or selective subjects in accounting and finance and/or legal during university study would be an advantage
- Basic knowledge of credit and risk assessment
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Able to present findings concisely in writing
- Demonstrate the capacity to work in a team environment, on collective success
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and deliver assigned task under tight deadline
- Display responsibility and act ethically
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is mandatory. Other Asian language would be a plus.
This is a fixed term 24 month Trainee contract with Societe Generale. You will form part of the team on a full time basis. In order to apply for the Trainee position please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of the Trainee contract.

Department Description
The Financing & Advisory Group mission statement is to develop a worldwide business franchise to bring greater client financing and advisory solutions across our chosen sectors, which in turn reflect the megatrends of tomorrow. A very strong emphasis is laid on supporting the energy transition. The successful candidate will be primarily assigned to the Development and Structured Export Finance (DSE) and Maritime Industries (MAI) subsectorial teams.
DSE has global responsibility for the origination, advisory, structuring and implementation of financing for export of capital goods and associated services. This business line is responsible globally for the Group's relationships with export credit agencies (ECA) and public development agencies supporting exports and overseas investments.
MAI offers a range of financing and advisory solutions to support SG clients’ sustainability journey covering stakeholders across the maritime industries value chain
