Responsibilities

Role Objective: The Legal Trainee will support the Legal function of the bank in handling corporate legal matters, including regulatory analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Regulatory & Banking Law Support:
(i)    Conduct research on Indian banking laws and regulations and court judgements, including RBI guidelines and Companies Act, applicable to foreign banks and branches in India.
(ii)    Track and summarise legal and regulatory updates and court judgements to upload on the tools of the bank.
(iii)    Assist in preparation of internal legal notes, compliance guidance, and regulatory impact assessments.

2.    Contracts and Documentation:
(i)    Draft and review documentation, including non-disclosure agreements and vendor contracts.
(ii)    Prepare and update databases to record information, including but not limited to checklists, legal opinions and invoices.

Profile required

Eligibility and Qualifications:

1.    Mandatory Requirements:
(i)    LL.B. (3 year or 5 year course) from a recognised Indian university.
(ii)    Strong academic foundation in contract law, company law, banking law, or commercial laws.
(iii)    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

2.    Preferred Requirements:
(i)    Prior internship exposure with banks, financial institutions, or law firms with BFSI practice: 
(ii)    Basic familiarity with - RBI regulations and Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

Language Skills: Good command of English is mandatory (written and spoken)
