Responsibilities

Our Finance Division is in charge of steering the financial and budgetary strategy of the business, and its investment and development policy. We measure and analyse the profitability of the Group’s business activities portfolio and use of resources. We certify accounts, ensuring the necessary level of support and expertise on the subjects of accounting standards, taxation, scarce resources and regulation. Reporting to the department Head of Product Accounting, you will be responsible for ensuring that Profit & Loss and the associated balance sheet are accurately reflected in the General Ledger. Assisting Head of First Line of Defense in ensuring the accounting team have the appropriate controls in place, you will provide support in monthly account closing, perform accounting Profit & Loss and balance sheet analysis, and report to management and trading desks including Cross Asset Financing, Treasury, Commodities and Prime Services. You will also manage ad hoc requests from Management and business partners including Front Office, IT, Operations and Risk as appropriate.

Summary of responsibilities 

  • Developing analysis and controls over the product control framework of the department

  • Assisting in new business developments and enhancements to help industrialise team production.

  • Participating in projects to help the Finance department develop and progress

  • Working with the First Line of Defense for the team to ensure appropriate controls are in place

  • Reviewing and updating of policies and procedures documentation

  • Assisting management with decision-making and effectively communicating findings

Profile required

Competencies

  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in Business, Science, Economics or a similar discipline

  • Operational Skills – a good level of financial technical knowledge

  • Good knowledge of at least one of the following coding languages: Python, R, VBA; The role will be required use of Python

  • Excellent Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills

  • Advanced abilities in Power BI and Alteryx would be a strong value added

  • A previous work experience or internship in Finance or Accounting is advantageous

  • Ability to demonstrate a good basic knowledge of financial products and markets

  • An analytical, inquisitive and open-minded outlook

  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to communicate new ideas

  • Ability to work well as part of a busy office team and build effective relationships with colleagues

  • Confidence to take own initiative and work autonomously where required

  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge set

  • An excellent level of written and verbal English skills is required

  • French language skills advantageous but not essential
