About the team:

The IT infrastructures department, GCOO/GTE (Global Technology Engineering), is at the centre of the transformation of Société Générale’s operating model. Thanks to GCOO/GTE, the Group boasts one of the biggest shared service centres for IT infrastructures in the financial sector.

The GBTO/COO (Chief Operating Officer of GBTO) department is one of the 7 seven centres of expertise. It is responsible for assisting the GBTO department in the overall management of the GBTO Service Unit, defining its strategy and ensuring the successful execution of its transformation. It offers support to GBTO management through a wide range of service offerings (Transformation and Financial Steering). It is also responsible for the UK platform of the Corporate Real Estate (CRE), Facilities Management and Sourcing Activities.

The position will be part of the transversal COO team which sits within GBTO.   Finance oversees the review of costs, forecast and budget preparation, providing guidance to GTE & GBTO management, liaising with the central finance teams in London and Bangalore.  Administrative Support will also be provided to the GTE and GBTO Exco on transversal topics.

Summary of Key Purposes of the Role:

The trainee will cover the following activities within the team:

1.       APPTIO: review, analyze and report on GTE TCO (total cost of ownership) on application costs

2.       Month end analysis: allocate correct TBS code to non-staff related costs, essential for point 1

3.       Update and review of IT hardware/software maintenance contract excel database

4.       Monthly CME (centrally managed expenses) review by vendor & BU

5.       provide adequate support to GBTO/GTE COO and wider UK Executive Committee by leading several transversal topics which sit within the COO function and ultimately help GBTO/GTE in executing their strategic plans, as well as assisting the decision making of the UK COO with precise and accurate data reporting and achieving operational efficiency.

6.       It includes the definition and monitoring of OKR to ensure that initiatives are prioritized according to their value and contribute to the Group strategy, as well as working with the teams and HR to ensure implementation.

Responsibilities:

APPTIO:

  Update 2026 roadmap on APPTIO assessment

  Enhance data quality on TCO application reporting

  Learn to understand how to model potential changes to existing infrastructure, e.g., moving from datacentre to Cloud, to demonstrate to GTS Proserv potential savings

  Review the allocation methodology of Towers and TBS codes to assess if amendments are required

  Liaise with GTE Proserv on a quarterly basis to update datacentre allocation key

  Present TCO analysis to GTS EXCO

Month end analysis:

  Review non-staff costs to ensure appropriate TBS codes have been allocated

  Liaise with GTE teams to determine if given TBS codes allocated are correct

  Post monthly journals to allocate TBS codes to costs / correcting TBS codes

  Present during month end (5-day period) to senior management accountant analysis of TBS non-staff costs

Update and review of IT maintenance contracts:

  Review IT contract maintenance database for renewal dates within the next quarter

  Liaise with GTS London & Paris managers if contracts will be renewed

  Update IT contract maintenance database based on new information provided

  Present to GTS EXCO London in monthly review of GTS costs

CME analysis:

  Monthly - extract and update CME working file costs by vendor and BU

  Monthly - update GTS CME analysis for GTS COO

  Quarterly – update CME costs for BAU presentation

Transversal Tasks:

  Provide support to GBTO/COO (Chief Operating Officer of GBTO) in the UK

  Contribute to the definition of the strategy of GBTO/GTE UK (OKR, C&C, HR, Financial trajectory), its implementation and follow up

  Coordination of organizational change management initiatives on behalf of the GBTO COO UK

  Communication – organisation of various initiatives for the department

  People engagement – contribute to definition and implementation of the strategy

  GBTO/GTE UK staff plan follow up, new joiner integration, and training strategy for the whole unit

  Facilitate the development, coordination, communication, and accomplishment of short and long-term objectives

  Monitor and update Monthly Training, Travel and Overtime reports

  Coordinate transversal exercises / ad-hoc studies when required

Profile required

·         Degree educated within business, finance or IT related field

·         Good level in English (liaise with English speaking senior managers)
